Description:

The Sr. Category Manager will develop the overall sourcing strategy for products purchased within an assigned commodity(ies).  This will include market research for strategic decision making around source selection and inventory policy, supplier relationship management, strategic contract negotiation, and escalation support for supply disruptions.  Key components of success include high service and performance from strategic suppliers, establishing and exceeding cost reduction targets, and high engagement with NPI and Global Procurement to promote strategic supplier use.  This role will focus on MRO programs globally as well as Equipment Rentals and the purchase of Capital Equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide market intelligence (pricing trends, market shifts, key supplier transactions, competitor threats, opportunities, etc.) on a regular basis to key business stakeholders and executives to support decision making around cost and inventory opportunities
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in market and fabrication processes within the assigned category area
  • Establish and manage contracts with key suppliers to ensure supply continuity and price stability
  • Negotiate favorable payment and commercial terms for strategic and non-strategic suppliers within the assigned commodity base
  • Conduct Supplier Business Reviews with strategic supplier partners to review performance, price history, and quality
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities, negotiate best pricing using should-cost modeling, and implement pricing programs into Sport Group manufacturing sites to drive year-over-year cost reductions
  • Support all cost and supply programs from inception through implementation to ensure full results are realized
  • Provide escalation support to Sport Group manufacturing sites to close supply gaps, address quality issues, or improve overall service and performance by leveraging key relationships with strategic suppliers and knowledge of the commodity market
  • Establish sourcing contracts providing inventory flexibility through Kanban, consignment, or other JIT-focused replenishment methods
  • Support the development of other Sourcing or Procurement team members through coaching and mentorship
  • Drive best-in-class MRO supply programs in Sport Group facilities globally, leveraging rebate, guaranteed cost savings, and other incentive-laden contracts to improve supply availability while reducing year-over-year cost
  • Support the sourcing of capital by leading cost and terms negotiations in a variety of functional areas (equipment, facility improvements, vehicles, etc.)

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management or comparable experience
  • APICS Certification preferred, but not required

Job Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement function
  • 3-5 years in a category leadership role including supply base development and contract negotiation
