Public Relations / Public Affairs

Sachs Media is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Account Executive to lead strategic communications initiatives across a portfolio of accounts. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, often interfacing directly with senior leadership, and will be responsible for advancing public affairs priorities.

The ideal candidate will bring experience and a demonstrated passion for impact-focused issues, along with strong media relationships in the Midwest region. This position typically reports to a Vice President-level leader and requires at least five years of relevant experience in public relations, public affairs, or a related field. Agency experience is preferred. The role will support clients across a diverse range of sectors, including health care, energy, financial services, environmental issues, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, leading day-to-day communications and ensuring alignment with their goals and expectations
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans, messaging, and campaigns with a focus on public policy
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers, with a preference for those in the Midwest
  • Proactively pitch and secure earned media coverage at the local, state, and national levels
  • Write and edit press releases, op-eds, talking points, and other content with clarity and precision
  • Identify and promote opportunities for thought leadership, expert commentary, and brand visibility
  • Plan and manage media events, press conferences, and public announcements
  • Coordinate with internal teams on creative, web, social media, and advertising projects.
  • Manage, mentor, and guide account teams to ensure quality control, timely deliverables, and strategic execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in public relations, communications, political science, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in public affairs communication
  • Strong media relationships and proven ability to secure impactful coverage, with a preference for experience working with Midwest media outlets
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to navigate fast-paced, evolving situations
  • Experience in crisis communications and issues management
  • Leadership and team management experience are strongly preferred
  • Location in the Midwest is preferred
