Job description

AdventHealth Medical Group West Florida Division Cardiology Services is seeking an Executive Medical Director to provide clinical direction, oversight, and physician leadership to all employed cardiology practices in West Florida. This leadership role involves 40% administrative and 60% clinical time, focusing on improving patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and quality performance. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, standardize care pathways, and play a key role in physician recruitment and staffing optimization.

  • This is a leadership role with 40% administrative and 60% clinical time.
  • The role provides oversight for the clinical and operational performance of providers and practices in a dyad partnership within their assigned region.
  • The West Florida Division Medical Group spans a broad geography in eight counties, with practices in Charlotte, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties, as well as five Care Pavilions.
  • Providers represent 40 specialties and care for one million patients annually.
  • AdventHealth Medical Group staff provides care at locations throughout West Florida, including fifteen AdventHealth hospital locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical direction, oversight, and physician leadership to all AdventHealth employed cardiology practices in West Florida.
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership that drives measurable improvements in patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and quality performance across the hospitals.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to standardize care pathways, implement evidence-based practices, and align physician engagement with organizational goals.
  • Play a key role in physician recruitment, onboarding, and staffing optimization.
  • Develop and implement the clinical vision for their region.
  • Ensure AHMG and care management clinical practices/policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure personal actions, and the actions of the providers in their region, comply with all applicable policies, regulations, and laws.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Active Florida Medical License
  • Active US Board certification
  • Unrestricted active AdventHealth hospital privileges
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of medical practice and clinic management, clinic operational structures and systems, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in managing a health care facility.
  • Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets, and multiple clinic functions.
