What is an executive mapping designer?

An Executive Mapping Designer is a professional who specializes in creating high-level visual representations, such as organizational charts, strategic roadmaps, or data maps, for executives and decision-makers. Their work helps clarify complex information, support strategic planning, and enhance communication across leadership teams. They use advanced design tools and data visualization techniques to ensure that information is accessible and actionable for executives. This role typically requires strong analytical, communication, and design skills, as well as experience working with senior leadership.

How does an executive mapping designer typically collaborate with leadership teams during the project lifecycle?

Executive Mapping Designers work closely with organizational leaders to understand strategic goals and translate them into effective visual mapping solutions. Throughout a project, they facilitate workshops, gather feedback, and present draft maps to ensure alignment with executive vision. Regular communication with stakeholders is essential, as the designer often adapts and refines deliverables based on evolving requirements. This collaborative approach ensures that mapping outputs are both visually compelling and strategically relevant.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive mapping designer, and why are they important?

To excel as an Executive Mapping Designer, you need expertise in data visualization, cartography, and spatial analysis, typically supported by a degree in geography, GIS, or a related field. Proficiency with mapping software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and data management systems is essential, along with relevant GIS certifications. Strong project management, communication, and analytical thinking skills help designers effectively collaborate with stakeholders and present complex information clearly. These skills are crucial for producing accurate, visually compelling maps that inform executive decision-making and drive business strategy.

As an Executive Recruiter, you won't just fill positions-you'll directly shape Robinhood's trajectory by attracting, engaging, and landing the visionary leaders who build our business! You will lead high-impact executive searches across a range of functions, partnering closely with senior leaders to translate business priorities into thoughtful talent strategies. You will also build long-term relationships with executive talent, develop market intelligence, and create pipelines that support both immediate hiring needs and future leadership and succession priorities. This role is based in our Chicago, IL, Menlo Park, CA, and New York, NY offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.
What you'll do
  • Partner with executives and hiring leaders to define leadership profiles, clarify organizational needs, and develop tailored search and assessment strategies
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-caliber, passive executive talent through research, targeted outreach, networking, and long-term engagement
  • Use search metrics, outreach data, and pipeline health checks to optimize search strategies in real time
  • Create a high-touch, personalized candidate journey that reflects Robinhood's mission, values, and commitment to excellence
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring leaders by providing clear perspectives on the market, candidate quality, pipeline health, search challenges, and closing considerations

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to establish credibility, influence decisions, and navigate differing stakeholder perspectives
  • Experience building executive talent communities or pipelines tied to long-term succession and organizational planning
  • Strong research and sourcing capabilities, including experience with market mapping, competitive intelligence, and talent pipelining
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential searches, sensitive candidate information, and organizational planning discussions
  • Ability to assess leadership talent beyond résumé qualifications, including scope, impact, operating style, motivations, and alignment with organizational needs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling and highly personalized candidate outreach and messaging
  • Ability to manage multiple complex searches and shifting priorities while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance-driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
  • Best-in-class benefits to fuel your work, including 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents.
