Job description

About the Company
MAP International is seeking a strategic, mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team during an exciting season of organizational growth, innovation, and global ministry impact. For more than 70 years, MAP International has lived out its mission of providing medicines and health supplies to people in need around the world so they may experience life to the fullest. Today, MAP facilitates the distribution of more than $1.3 billion annually in donated medicines and health supplies, bringing hope and healing to millions of people worldwide.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CFO will provide executive leadership for MAP's financial strategy, stewardship, accounting operations, treasury, financial planning, compliance, and enterprise risk management. This leader will also serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team. This is not a turnaround opportunity. MAP enjoys exceptional financial health, mature financial controls, a highly capable finance team, and a culture deeply committed to stewardship and accountability. The next CFO will inherit an outstanding foundation and help position one of the world's leading Christian global health organizations for its next chapter of growth and impact.
Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for financial operations, accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial reporting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, gift-in-kind accounting requirements, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee annual audits, tax filings, internal controls, and enterprise risk management.
  • Partner closely with the President & CEO and Executive Leadership Team on organizational strategy, financial modeling, and long-range planning.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting and strategic guidance to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead, coach, and develop an exceptional finance team while strengthening systems, processes, and professional development.
  • Collaborate across the organization to support sound decision-making, faithful stewardship, and long-term financial sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • Previous experience serving as a Chief Financial Officer or senior finance executive.
  • Significant nonprofit financial leadership experience required.
  • Expertise in nonprofit financial management and reporting.
  • Experience with complex nonprofit accounting, including restricted funding and gift-in-kind accounting, preferred.
  • Experience partnering with Boards of Directors and executive leadership teams.
  • CPA strongly preferred; MBA and experience with ECFA standards or an ECFA-accredited organization are highly desirable.
  • International ministry, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or global nonprofit experience is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in strategic financial planning, forecasting, treasury, audit oversight, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, and financial systems.

Executive Leadership Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ consistent with MAP's mission and Statement of Faith.
  • Executive presence coupled with humility.
  • High emotional intelligence and relational maturity.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking balanced with operational awareness.
  • Strong judgment and discernment.
  • A collaborative leadership style that values partnership over hierarchy.
  • The ability to influence through relationships rather than authority.
  • A growth mindset balanced with faithful stewardship.
  • Calm, thoughtful leadership during organizational complexity and change.
  • A genuine passion for using financial stewardship to advance Kingdom impact.

Required Skills
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in strategic financial planning, forecasting, treasury, audit oversight, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, and financial systems.
Preferred Skills
Beyond technical expertise, MAP is seeking an executive leader who demonstrates humility, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, collaboration, and strategic thinking. The successful candidate will have a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ consistent with MAP's mission and Statement of Faith and a genuine passion for using financial stewardship to advance Kingdom impact. This leader will value partnership over hierarchy, influence through trusted relationships, and balance a growth mindset with faithful stewardship.
Pay range and compensation package
MAP International is headquartered in Brunswick, Georgia. The position may be performed remotely or through relocation to the Brunswick area. Periodic travel for Board meetings, leadership retreats, and select ministry events will be expected. Anticipated salary range: $150,000-$180,000, based on experience, qualifications, and whether the successful candidate serves in a remote or relocated capacity. MAP also offers a competitive executive benefits package designed to support employees and their families.
Equal Opportunity Statement
For the right leader, this is far more than an opportunity to steward financial resources. It is an opportunity to help shape the future of a financially healthy, growing Christian ministry whose work delivers medicines, health supplies, hope, and healing to millions of people around the world. If you are an accomplished nonprofit financial executive who desires to combine executive leadership, financial excellence, faithful stewardship, and eternal purpose, we invite you to consider this opportunity.
