Job Description

The Executive Housekeeper has the primary responsibility to achieve quality, financial, and employee engagement goals as outlined in the hotel's strategic plan and budget for all Inn housekeeping, including hotel rooms and Historical Guest Cottages.

This will involve, but is not limited to, quality control as well as staff development and performance management.  Candidate will promote a positive and engaging work environment through effective, consistent and professional communication with all team members.  The incumbent will work closely with other departments and managers to ensure the smooth overall operations of all Housekeeping responsibilities included in scope for the Inn on Biltmore Estate.  

The Executive Housekeepers will closely monitor the housekeeping department to ensure Forbes 4 star and AAA 4 diamond requirements are achieved at all times. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Lead teams performing the daily operations of the housekeeping department in accordance with departmental standards which meet and/or exceed Forbes 4 star standards for 210 guest rooms.
• Lead teams who manage the daily operations of housekeeping for 4 historical guest cottages.  
• Oversee interior and exterior public area cleaning of the hotel 
• Oversee Hotel Fitness Center and Pool/ Jacuzzi cleanliness
• Directly manage Housekeeping Supervisors, Inspectors, and Lead Housekeeping Supervisor. 
• Conduct daily line-up meetings with staff; facilitate departmental communications.
• Ensure all guest requests are communicated and honored. 
• Responsible for all staff development, including hiring, training, performance management and coaching as well as department recognition programs.      
• Responsible to generate, maintain & review personnel documentation and other departmental administrative duties including leave requests, and SOP departmental manuals.
• Oversees schedules that cover events, functions, and group/guest stays.  
• Ability to work first shift, second shift, and third shift to complete weekly scheduling of staffing guidelines. Able to build rapport and development of all different shifts.
• Generate and manage weekly and monthly inventory of supplies.  Maintain compliance of departmental budget guidelines and offer justification for any discrepancies.  
• Responsible for the creation of annual departmental budget, FF&E and Capital requests as well as monitoring .
• Manages and reviews Housekeeping Departmental Qualtric Scores 
• System Administrator for ALICE Hotel Platform for cross departmental communication. 
• Oversees and manages all dry cleaning, floor care, and upholstery or rugs
• Manage internal and external contracted services for the following areas, laundry, dry cleaning, floral, all hotel carpet and marble, project contractors, and others as necessary.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform any other tasks or projects as assigned by Management. 
• Assist Housekeeping staff as needed to ensure exceptional guest service. 
• Oversee Lost and Found program. 
• Maintain departmental recognition program. 
• Represent department on task forces, working groups and company meetings as assigned. 
• Maintain open-door relationship with employees. 
• Coordinate with other departments such as; Engineering, F&B, Front Office, Human Resources, Security, Laundry, Marketing, etc.   
• Network and build rapports with management across Estate, including other lodging property. 
• Conduct regular room and cottage inspections to ensure quality standards are upheld.  
• Manage internal and external contracted services for the following areas, laundry, dry cleaning, floral, all hotel carpet and marble, project contractors, and others as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma (or GED) required.  Additional education, training, and /or certification(s) preferred. 
• A minimum of five (5) years related experience in a similar supervisory and/or management position in an upscale hotel or resort.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.     
• Demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to providing world class internal and external guest service, with ability to motivate staff to do the same. 
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and motivational skills.  
• Must have a keen attention to details with a focus on guest service and quality. 
• Must be able to handle a variety of guest service situations professionally in a manner consistent with Inn on Biltmore Estate standards.
• MS Office proficiency.  Ability to learn property management system.
• Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
• Proactive, exercises good judgment, creatively problem solves.
• Previous Forbes property experience is highly desirable.
• Certified Hotel Housekeeping Executive Certification preferred. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The individual will work in a guest contact environment.  
• The individual will be required to lift, pull, push 25 points regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.  
• The individual may work in a standing position for extended periods of time, and may be required to kneel, reach overhead, bend/stoop as needed. 
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.  
Must have a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record for the last three (3) years, and be at least 19 years of age.
