Job description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, is seeking an endocrinologist with advanced skills in diabetes management to serve as Executive Director of the Parkland Integrated Diabetes Program (IDP). Applicant must have an M.D. degree or equivalent from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME accredited program. Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be ABIM board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.   The Parkland IDP is a collaboration between Parkland Health & Hospital System (PHHS) and UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSWMC) that coordinates diabetes care throughout inpatient services, outpatient specialty care and primary care clinics of PHHS, and the Dallas communities that it serves. The next Executive Director will provide overall vision, oversight, and direction to the clinical, educational, quality improvement, population health, research, and other activities of the IDP. The Executive Director will supervise and provide patient care in Endocrinology; participate in teaching and training of medical students, house staff and fellows; facilitate, promote and conduct clinical, translational, and/or population research and/or quality improvement initiatives; supervise Parkland IDP faculty and staff; collaborate with other Parkland clinical service lines to improve diabetes care and outcomes; represent the IDP at PHHS leadership and other committee meetings; develop and implement strategies to meet Parkland's diabetes-related metrics with respect to the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment program and the Community Health Needs Assessment for Dallas County; collaborate in the development of clinical decision support and other informatics-based tools to improve diabetes care; and interface and engage with PHHS stakeholders and leadership in discussing and promoting the IDP vision and strategies .UT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunity to all members of the University community.
