Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Rafael, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Rafael, CA!

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in San Rafael, CA!
  • Schedule: 10 hours per month; 2 days a week for 1.25 hours
  • Rate is betweem $25 and $35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

  • Valid teaching credential required (Special Education preferred)
  • Experience working with high school students with intellectual disabilities and speech/language impairments
  • Strong background in teaching foundational literacy and math at the early elementary level
  • Experience supporting functional academic skills and life-skills-based learning
  • Knowledge of reading fluency, comprehension, and early writing development
  • Experience teaching basic math concepts, including counting, number sense, and introductory operations
  • Skilled in supporting executive functioning (organization, routines, task completion)
  • Familiarity with IEP-based instruction and collaboration with ABA and speech services
  • Patient, engaging, and able to build rapport with friendly, social students
  • Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to guide instruction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct an initial assessment to determine current academic levels and functional skill needs
  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including reading fluency, comprehension, and early writing skills
  • Support writing development, including personal information, sentence formation, and organization
  • Deliver math instruction focused on foundational skills such as counting, number sense, and basic operations
  • Introduce and support simple math word problem strategies using visuals and step-by-step guidance
  • Teach and reinforce functional academic skills for daily life and increased independence
  • Support executive functioning skills, including routines, organization, and task completion
  • Implement structured sessions with consistent routines and scheduled breaks
  • Incorporate student interests (e.g., soccer, music, dancing, cards, cars) to increase engagement and motivation
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Collaborate with caregivers by providing updates and adjusting strategies as needed
