We are looking for a Director of Commercial Division to help take us to the next level!
Summary
The Director of Commercial Division owns the strategy, profitability, and growth of our commercial business. This leader builds a scalable commercial engine-people, process, pricing discipline, service levels, and contractor relationships-while coordinating across branches and functions (purchasing, inventory, credit, logistics, and inside sales).

Qualifications and Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Growth
  • Define and execute a commercial growth plan (segments: GC/roofing contractors, national/regional accounts, public bids, service/repair, etc.)
  • Build the commercial "playbook": target customers, value proposition, bid discipline, and account plans
  • Partner with marketing/vendor partners on lead generation, contractor events, and spec-influence initiatives

P&L Leadership
  • Own commercial revenue, gross margin, expenses, and working capital performance
  • Establish pricing governance: deal reviews, bid thresholds, margin floors, and exception process
  • Drive inventory turns and reduce dead/obsolete stock in commercial categories

Sales Leadership (without being the primary seller)
  • Lead the commercial sales motion: pipeline reviews, forecasting, account planning, and territory design
  • Coach sellers on negotiation, product mix, and contractor economics
  • Coordinate inside sales/estimating to ensure fast, accurate takeoffs/quotes and consistent follow-up

Operational Excellence
  • Align purchasing, warehousing, and delivery to commercial jobsite needs (staging, will-call, jobsite drops)
  • Improve order accuracy, cut lead times, reduce delivery failures and jobsite chargebacks
  • Partner with credit on terms, lien compliance, collections cadence, and risk controls

People & Talent
  • Hire and develop: account executives, inside sales/estimators, project coordinators (as needed)
  • Set clear KPIs and career paths; implement training for product knowledge and systems usage

Vendor & Category Partnership
  • Own strategic vendor relationships in key commercial lines
  • Coordinate vendor programs, rebates, stocking commitments, and joint business plans

KPIs / Scorecard (include in the posting)
  • Revenue growth (commercial)
  • Gross margin % and gross margin dollars
  • Quote-to-win rate, pipeline coverage, forecast accuracy
  • On-time/in-full delivery, credits/returns rate

Required Experience & Profile
  • 7-15+ years in commercial roofing distribution, roofing manufacturing, or commercial construction supply
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership or multi-function leadership (sales + ops + pricing)
  • Strong pricing discipline and job/bid management experience
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally (warehouse, delivery, purchasing, credit)
  • Leadership style: hands-on builder, strong communicator, process-oriented but commercial-minded

  • Reports to: Senior Vice President of Sales
  • Partners closely with: Branch managers, purchasing, operations/logistics, credit, finance, and marketing
