This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President, Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Irvine, CA.

This leadership role is ideal for a licensed Electrical Engineer with deep healthcare experience who brings both technical excellence and business development acumen. You will play a critical role in delivering complex healthcare projects while helping grow and strengthen WSP’s presence in the Southern California healthcare market.

Your Impact
  • Serve as a technical leader for electrical engineering design on complex healthcare projects (hospitals, clinical facilities, life sciences, and related sectors)
  • Lead the full project lifecycle from concept development through construction and close-out
  • Drive client relationships and business development efforts, including pursuits, proposals, and market growth strategies
  • Coordinate, review, and approve electrical system designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Oversee design of power distribution, emergency systems, lighting, and life safety systems
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to engineering teams, supporting staff development and technical excellence
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions aligned with client objectives
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, strengthening long-term partnerships and expanding WSP’s healthcare footprint
Who You Are Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering design, with a strong emphasis on healthcare facilities
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex healthcare projects
  • Proven success in client engagement and business development
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and healthcare-specific codes/standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established network within the Southern California healthcare market
  • Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary teams across regional or national projects
  • Familiarity with Revit/BIM and advanced design technologies
  • Prior experience in a leadership or executive-level engineering role

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $174,400- $259,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
