Position Summary

PG&E is seeking an experienced SmartMeter Operations Analyst to support Smart Meter Operations, AMI infrastructure, and strategic Smart Meter initiatives. This individual will provide operational and project support across Smart Meter devices, Itron technologies, RF communications, relays, access points, data networks, and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in electric Smart Meter environments and be able to quickly contribute with minimal ramp-up time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Smart Meter operational issues.
  • Support Smart Meter devices, Itron systems, MDMS, RF/wireless communications, relays, access points, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support outage, incident, and escalation management.
  • Partner with IT, business teams, vendors, and contractors to maintain system performance and reliability.
  • Support project implementations, system upgrades, testing, and deployments.
  • Participate in design reviews, UAT, equipment evaluations, and technology trials.
  • Document processes and provide knowledge transfer, training, and technical guidance to team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting electric Smart Meter / AMI environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Itron technologies.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Smart Meters
  • Access Points
  • Relay Devices
  • RF/Wireless Communications
  • Data Networks
  • Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS)
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Utility industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PG&E experience.
