Controller Full Time 6 days ago Requisition ID: 1041 Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $150,000.00 Annually Position Summary SpecOil LLC and our family of companies is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and finance functions for a diversified group of companies operating in fuel distribution, lubricants, wholesale distribution, transportation, environmental services, logistics, and equipment leasing. Reporting directly to the Executive Committee, the Controller will oversee all accounting operations, lead the month-end close process, prepare consolidated financial statements, support the implementation and optimization of NetSuite ERP, manage banking relationships, borrowing base reporting, letters of credit, and establish strong financial controls to support continued growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations for multiple affiliated companies. Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Develop and maintain a structured month-end close calendar and assign responsibilities. Review and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and adjusting entries. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and outstanding items are resolved. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Prepare multi-entity consolidated financial statements, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations. Analyze monthly financial performance and provide executive-level variance analysis. Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and cash management. Lead the accounting workstream for NetSuite ERP implementation and continuous optimization. Develop dashboards, workflows, and reporting within NetSuite to improve operational efficiency. Manage commercial banking relationships, treasury functions, revolving credit facilities, and letters of credit. Prepare and submit borrowing base certificates and lender reporting packages accurately and timely. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, and financial modeling. Coordinate annual audits, tax support, and regulatory reporting. Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures. Recruit, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement. Partner with operations, procurement, sales, and executive leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 7–10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Extensive experience with multi-entity consolidations and consolidated financial reporting. Hands-on NetSuite ERP experience; implementation experience strongly preferred. Experience with borrowing base reporting, lender compliance, and letters of credit. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred. Experience in fuel distribution, lubricants, transportation, logistics, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or environmental services. Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and asset-intensive businesses. Experience supporting high-growth, multi-company organizations.
