Description
Job Title: Recovery Technician Location: Phoenix, AZ Employment Type: Contract to Direct Industry: Transportation Manufacturing Compensation: $22.00/hour Schedule: 5x8, 1st Shift
  • Sunday-Saturday, working 5 days per week with 2 days off each week
  • Must be flexible to work other shift hours if needed during first few months of training
  • Optional overtime available
  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00-10:30 PM

About the Opportunity: Join a team that keeps modern rail systems moving safely and reliably by performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on advanced train and transit equipment. In this role, you'll respond to operational challenges, conduct inspections and preventive maintenance, and help ensure trains are ready for service while working with cutting-edge electro-mechanical systems. What You'll Do:
  • Performs train and system recoveries of failed equipment, 'light' preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and wayside equipment, including but not limited to, visual inspections of brakes, air compressors, couplers, doors, HVAC, auxiliary power, and all other related electro-mechanical components, and maintenance duties under the direction of the supervisors.
  • Makes recommendations for hardware and procedural changes that become evident during performance of maintenance, inspection, or troubleshooting.
  • Reviews and understands safety instructions, procedures, objectives, nature of technical activity, and possible solutions such as disassemble and replace, adjust, or repair regarding the maintenance of car/rail equipment, sub-system components.
  • Handles emergencies and failures in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick action.
  • Participates in regular training to maintain the necessary level of knowledge to effectively maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the system.
  • Records the activity performed by indicating all relevant information on appropriate work orders/forms.
  • Follows all client security and safety instructions or procedures to prevent any personal injuries and maintain a safe fleet that will meet the demands of a reliable commuter service.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in maintaining and repairing automotive or transportation systems and troubleshooting mechanical systems either personally, educationally, or professionally, displaying mechanical aptitude
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing hand tools

What Sets You Apart:
  • Associate Degree or Technical/Trade School Degree showcasing mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in the railroad, APM (Automatic People Mover), or transportation industry
  • Knowledge of high-voltage safety procedures
  • Aptitude for mechanical operations and the operation of equipment
  • Knowledge in the use and application of a variety of hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.

Additional Information:
  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, as needed
  • The position needs regular exposure to outside weather in challenging environmental conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. EHS procedures must be followed and proper PPE (provided by the company) must be worn.
  • Be able to work from elevated work areas and use ladders, squat, and climb as needed
  • Employees may be needed to work in a train yard with live power tails and moving equipment.
