They play a key role in developing financial strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing accurate financial data for decision-making. Typically, Executive Controllers manage accounting teams, coordinate audits, and work closely with other executives to support the organization's overall financial health. Their expertise is essential for risk management, budgeting, and strategic planning within a company.

We've built leading infrastructure in the space, powering over $105 billion in transactions for tens of millions of users in 99% of countries worldwide.

Alchemy recently raised a Series C1 at a $10.2B valuation led by Lightspeed and Silver Lake. Previously, Alchemy raised from a16z, Coatue, Addition, Stanford University, Coinbase, the Chairman of Google, Charles Schwab, and the founders and executives of leading organizations.

Alchemy powers the top blockchain companies globally and has been featured in TechCrunch, Forbes, Bloomberg, JPMorgan, and elsewhere.

As Controller at Alchemy, you'll be responsible for building and leading our end-to-end accounting function.

Leading a growing team, you'll be responsible for our core accounting operations, strengthening the systems and controls that support the business, and transforming complex financial information into clear insights for company leadership, our Board of Directors, and investors. The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong business judgment. You'll be equally comfortable setting the long-term direction of the function, partnering across the company, and rolling up your sleeves to solve challenging accounting and operational problems.

Own timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Ensure financial statements and accounting practices comply with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.

Architect and refine a scalable accounting infrastructure by managing and optimizing our core financial technology stack, including NetSuite, Orb, Zip, and Ramp.

Develop policies, procedures, and controls that promote financial accuracy, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strong risk management.

Oversee tax planning, compliance, and preparation in partnership with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Lead relationships with third-party accounting firms, auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.

Develop and present reporting that gives company leaders meaningful insight into financial and operational performance, and partner with Finance on Board and investor reporting.

Distill complex financial information into clear recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

Lead technical accounting and strategic initiatives, including revenue recognition, vendor analysis, customer analysis, and other special projects.

Collaborate closely with teams across Alchemy, including Finance, Operations, Sales, People, Engineering, and Product.

Lead, develop, and scale the capabilities of a high-performing accounting team, fostering ownership, rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Head of Accounting, Accounting Director, or similar senior accounting role.

Public accounting experience paired with meaningful in-house operating experience at a high-growth technology company.

Strong ownership of accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, consolidations, financial reporting, and close processes.

Deep technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP and experience applying accounting guidance to complex business transactions.

Experience building scalable accounting systems, processes, policies, and internal controls with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.

Audit-readiness experience or strong ability to prepare a company for future audits, including documentation, controls, reporting infrastructure, and close discipline.

Strong business judgment, with the ability to connect detailed accounting work to broader company strategy and decision-making.

Hands-on operating style, comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner cross-functionally and explain complex financial topics clearly to leadership, Board members, investors, and cross-functional partners.

People leadership experience, including leading, developing, and raising the bar for an accounting team.

CPA strongly preferred.

Experience in a high-growth startup or later-stage private company, ideally Series C/D/E.

NetSuite experience preferred but not required.

Experience with billing, procurement, and expense management systems.

Experience with crypto, digital assets, blockchain, or web3 is a plus, but not required.

Experience managing external tax, technical accounting, M&A, audit, or advisory partners.
