Executive Director – Behavioral Health

Brooklyn, NY

$250,000 – $350,000 DOE

About the Opportunity

A growing nonprofit behavioral health organization is seeking a highly driven Executive Director to lead the organization through its next phase of growth, expansion, and operational excellence.This is not a maintenance role. We are looking for a builder and growth-minded executive who can expand programs, increase census and referrals, strengthen community partnerships, grow revenue, develop strong leadership teams, and build the infrastructure needed for long-term sustainability.Programs include Article 31 Mental Health Services, Article 32 Substance Use Services, CFTSS, HCBS, Peer Support Services, and Care Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans across all service lines.
  • Drive census growth, referral development, revenue growth, and program expansion .
  • Build strong relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, managed care plans, and other referral partners.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities, contracts, grants, and strategic partnerships.
  • Expand existing programs and lead the development of new service offerings.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction across the organization.
  • Build, mentor, and hold accountable a high-performing leadership team.
  • Establish KPIs and accountability structures across departments.
  • Ensure compliance with OMH, OASAS, Medicaid, managed care, and applicable regulatory requirements .
  • Oversee quality improvement, audits, accreditation, and operational performance.
Qualifications
  • Executive leadership experience within healthcare, behavioral health, nonprofit management, or a related field .
  • Demonstrated success growing organizations, programs, revenue, referrals, and/or census .
  • Strong understanding of Medicaid reimbursement, managed care, and healthcare operations.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing senior leaders.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen with experience managing through KPIs and measurable performance goals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience with OMH, OASAS, Article 31/32, CFTSS, HCBS, Care Management, or related behavioral health programs strongly preferred.
