Job description

Carousel Shift Lead

Purpose:

The Carousel Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the carousel attraction while providing exceptional customer service to guests. This position ensures compliance with all safety procedures, assists guests with boarding and exiting the ride, processes admissions and payments, maintains cleanliness of the attraction, and performs cash handling responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the carousel in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct opening, operational, and closing inspections to ensure the attraction is functioning safely and properly.
  • Maintain a safe ride perimeter and ensure all access gates are secured while the ride is in operation.
  • Verify that all guests meet applicable height, age, and safety requirements before boarding.
  • Assist guests with boarding and exiting the attraction safely.
  • Ensure guests remain in proper riding positions and comply with all attraction rules, including ensuring proper fastening and use of seat/safety belt.
  • Monitor the attraction during operation and maintain constant awareness of guest safety.
  • Observe and report any unusual sounds, smells, mechanical issues, or safety concerns immediately to management.
  • Assist guests with disabilities and ensure accessibility accommodations are utilized safely and appropriately.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the carousel, queue area, ticketing area, and surrounding workspaces.
  • Process guest transactions accurately, including cash, credit card, and electronic payments.
  • Maintain accountability for all cash, tickets, and transaction records during assigned shifts.
  • Perform cash counts and reconciliations at the end of shifts as required.
  • Complete required cash handling documentation and transaction logs accurately.
  • Securely transport and deposit cash proceeds into the designated mall lockbox, safe, or approved deposit location following company security procedures.
  • Immediately report any cash shortages, overages, discrepancies, or security concerns to management.
  • Assist with special events, promotions, and operational activities as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in customer service, retail, amusement, hospitality, or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Minimal computer skills
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Demonstrates a solid work ethic and exhibits professional and acceptable behaviors at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce and team environment.
