Job description

Coaster / Rides Maintenance Technician 

Job Summary 

Anakeesta is an award-winning mountaintop adventure park committed to delivering safe, unforgettable experiences in the Great Smoky Mountains. The Coaster / Rides Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all ride and coaster attractions. 

This hands-on technical role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing ride systems in compliance with manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements, and Anakeesta safety standards. 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections of coaster and ride attractions. 

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. 

  • Troubleshoot ride malfunctions and respond promptly to operational issues to minimize downtime. 

  • Assist with ride testing, commissioning, and operational readiness prior to park opening. 

  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with manufacturer guidelines, ASTM standards, and applicable regulations. 

  • Accurately complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation. 

  • Support ride startups, shutdowns, seasonal maintenance, and major refurbishment projects. 

  • Assist with ride evacuations and emergency response procedures when required. 

  • Communicate effectively with Operations and Safety teams to support safe daily operations. 

  • Maintain tools, workspaces, and parts inventory in a clean, organized, and safe manner. 

  • Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and fall protection requirements. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support park operations. 

What You Need 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on complex mechanical systems. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. 

  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions. 

  • Physical ability to lift, climb, bend, and stand for extended periods. 

  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call shifts as required. 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 

  • Must be able to safely lift, carry, and move materials independently and with team assistance when necessary. 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching overhead. 

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces and stairs. 

  • Ability to safely handle heavy, bulky, or awkward items using proper lifting techniques and assistance as needed. 

  • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment with frequent movement and manual labor activities. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Previous experience in ride, coaster, amusement, industrial, or mechanical maintenance preferred. 

  • Familiarity with ASTM F24 standards or amusement ride regulations a plus. 

  • Electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance certifications preferred. 

  • Manufacturer ride training or experience with alpine coasters a plus.
