Job description

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor monitors and regulates the operations and maintenance of the facilities. Performs leadership duties that will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Generation Plant. Performs all duties in compliance with plant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to operations, safety, conduct, and housekeeping. Protects the Owner's investment in machinery, equipment, and facilities by exercising care, skill and knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the monitoring, inspection, and control of all power production, auxiliary and facility equipment to ensure safe, legal, continuous, and efficient operation. Ensures that plant emissions and effluents are within limits. Acts necessary to prevent any safety violations, environmental excursions, or production loss.
  • Reports discrepancies in operation and/or conditions in a timely manner.
  • Provides general directions to subordinate classifications.
  • Directs and trains others in the inspection, repair, and operation of the facility. Assists in the training of the O&M Technicians.
  • Performs assigned tasks in the qualification program for the Operator Technicians.
  • Relieves O&M Technicians, when required, in times of personnel shortage.
  • On limited basis, performs hands-on operational maintenance repairs, where necessary, and assists others making repairs to all equipment.
  • Generates maintenance work order requests and purchases requisition requests. Is familiar with CMMS.
  • Assists Plant Manager in development and monitoring of plant budget, operating plan, and development of technicians. Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Continually develops knowledge of the Plant and power plants in general.
  • Provides hands-on leading-edge approaches to the facility's safety, health, and training program.
  • Maintain the Environmental QA/QC Manual and ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to the Plant Manager for the Owner and/or utility.
  • Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records.
  • Maintain the plant Operations Manuals and assure that operating policies and procedures are kept up to date.
