Job description

The ACH Operations team is responsible for processing windows that collect and distribute ACH transactions to and from the ACH network. The team also handles exception transactions, as well as settlement entries and GL balancing. These functions are critical to the accurate and efficient processing of transactions on a crucial rail of the payment ecosystem.

As the Sr. Operations Associate, you will serve as the middleman for central clearinghouse activities relating to ACH transactions from receiving the files, sorting and routing the payment data, and settling the funds. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives assigned by Bank Operations leadership.

This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO. The work schedule is 9:30 AM -6:00 PM. However, for approximately 6 weeks throughout the year, this position will be the primary backup remotely for the evening shift, which has hours of approximately 12:30 PM- 9:00 PM.

How you will spend your time:

  • Monitor and record the receipt of ACH transactions against a prescribed ACH delivery schedule.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all ACH files.
  • Review system reports for file processing to resolve and record processing issues.
  • Perform exception processing according to instructions received.
  • Respond to customer calls regarding processing concerns.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned.

  • In-depth experience in managing ACH transactions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, managers, business partners, and clients.
  • Effectively worked in a team environment.
  • Utilize your technical aptitude allowing for learning of company systems, platforms, and products quickly.
  • Strong customer services skills.
  • Worked autonomously, escalating issues, problems etc. as appropriate.
  • Effectively recognized errors, issues, special requests, or inconsistencies in daily operations to solve or escalate to appropriate associate or manager.

Compensation Range:

$44,685 - $65,736
