Job Description
Seeking a Mass Properties Engineer to support the development and analysis of mass properties models for launch vehicles and subsystems. This role is responsible for performing weight and balance analysis, tracking mass properties throughout the product lifecycle, and supporting engineering and program teams with technical evaluations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain mass properties models for launch vehicles and related subsystems
Perform weight and balance analysis, including estimating and optimizing mass properties for launch systems
Establish target weights and monitor compliance throughout program development
Maintain mass properties accounting systems and provide trend analysis to program leadership
Support proposal evaluations, technical reviews, and operational documentation activities
Conduct component weighing, validation, and verification activities to improve estimate accuracy
Prepare and present technical findings during engineering and program reviews
Collaborate closely with engineering teams and cross-functional departments to gather required information and communicate project status
Support continuous improvement of mass properties processes and analysis methods
Required Skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Basic understanding and usage of CAD tools
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Skills
Experience programming with Access VBA and Excel Macros
Understanding of mass properties concepts including center of gravity, moments of inertia, and products of inertia
Ability to manage tasks independently and complete projects with minimal oversight
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field
0 5 years of engineering experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Active U.S. Secret security clearance
Experience supporting mass properties analysis through academic or professional projects
Familiarity with launch vehicle, aerospace, or mechanical system development environments
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM discipline with typically 0 5 years of related engineering experience.
