The Role

The Capital Planning Manager leads the overall capital process. This position will have ownership of capital budget that is aligned with business and operational leaders to ensure that objectives that are consistent with business strategy are achieved in capital spending.

This position will partner with IT programmers to develop a capital approval and tracking process that streamlines the capital approvals and provides transparency on the status of capital approvals. The process will include management of the capital budget and a capital spending forecast. This position will monitor the health of the process using Key Performance Indicators with dashboards for regular reporting to stakeholders.

The manager will develop standardized project engineering tools, provide training in approach and execution, as well as develop specifications for standardization across the project engineering teams. The manager will also be a resource for project management as needed.

Our preference is for this position to be located at our Mesa, AZ facility but we could potentially consider the Pueblo, CO, Carrollton, TX or North Kingstown, RI metro areas for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Owner of capital budget that is aligned with business and operational leaders to ensure that objectives are achieved in capital spending.
  • Partner with IT programmers to develop a capital approval and tracking process that streamlines the capital approvals and provides transparency on the status of capital approvals.
  • Develop and manage capital budget and track capital spending forecast by working with all project owners to gather all required information and ensure organizational alignment.
  • Monitor the health of the process using Key Performance Indicators with dashboards for regular reporting to stakeholders.
  • Develop and share best practices for project engineering tools, provide training in approach and execution, as well as develop specifications for standardization across the project engineering teams.
  • Supply project expertise to site leaders, project managers, and others.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of capital processes.
  • Providing consistent progress updates and ensuring adherence to project milestones.
  • Act as consultant, facilitator, communicator, project manager, coach, and bridge builder.
  • Manage projects, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in chemical related business
  • Minimum of 10 years’ program and/or project management experience. PMP certification desired.
  • Strong facilitator with ability to bring groups of differing ideas and opinions together for common solutions and processes.
  • Experience utilizing lean and six sigma tools in a similar role.
  • Track record of problem-solving ability and change management
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
  • Experience working with SAP
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written; excellent presentation skills; listening skills
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships; ability to manage, motivate, coach and work with other people that don’t report directly.
  • Self-driven with proven organizational skills; prioritize in a multi-tasking arena; goal oriented; influencing and negotiations skills
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence with the ability to understand and manage sometimes difficult and emotional situations
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
