Chemical Operator
Overview
Our site in Marshall, Texas, is seeking a Chemical Operator to join our team. In this role, you will work in a high-volume manufacturing environment, including sampling raw materials, packaging finished goods for shipment, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate Degree in applied science with chemistry coursework and/or 2-5 years of experience in chemical plant operations
Preferably with hazardous or energetic materials such as organic peroxides
Technical & Safety Certifications:
Proven experience handling organic peroxides or similar energetic chemicals, with a strong understanding of their safety and handling requirements
OSHA HAZWOPER (40-hour or equivalent) certification preferred
DOT HazMat certification and safety training specific to peroxide handling, storage, and emergency response highly desirable
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to wear and work safely with full PPE, including full-face respirators, chemical-resistant clothing, and eye protection
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations concerning hazardous chemical storage, transportation, and handling
Experience operating process equipment involved in peroxide production, transfer, and packaging, focusing on safety and compliance
Forklift certification and experience handling raw materials and finished products in hazardous environments
Physical capability to lift a minimum of 55 lbs., stand, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces
Strong commitment to safety, environmental regulations, and accident prevention
Sound understanding of emergency procedures specific to peroxide handling, including spill response, fire suppression, and thermal runaway protocols
Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, in a 24/7 environment
Valid driver’s license and successful background check
Accountability for completing tasks, owning commitments, and demonstrating reliability
Must be free of facial hair that interferes with the seal of a full-face respirator
Preferred Attributes:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email, Internet)
Basic understanding of algebra
Ability to multitask effectively
