Job description

The Safety Trainer delivers and coordinates safety training across all shifts and maintains the site's safety training records, certification matrices, and compliance tracking. This is a hands-on training delivery and coordination position: the incumbent prepares and presents training sessions, tracks completion and overdue requirements, maintains certification and recertification schedules, supports onboarding and contractor orientation, and assists with routine safety inspections and EHS recordkeeping. The Safety Trainer works day to day with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Human Resources under the direction of EHS leadership.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training across all shifts, including new hire safety orientation, forklift training, and recurring required safety training.
  • Schedule recurring safety training sessions; prepare training materials, rosters, and sign-in records.
  • Track training completion and overdue requirements; escalate gaps to EHS leadership.
  • Administer the Shift Supervisor Safety Program: maintain curriculum materials, qualification records, and the refresh schedule.
  • Schedule shift supervisor safety training and refreshers; maintain the supervisor safety certification matrix.
  • Track on-call rotation schedules and coverage; distribute Shift Supervisor Safety Program communications.
  • Schedule forklift operator training and evaluations; maintain the certification matrix and expiration tracking; coordinate required documentation.
  • Serve as designated qualified evaluator of record under 29 CFR 1910.178(l); conduct operator practical evaluations and recertifications.
  • Maintain department files, forms, records, dashboards, and reports.
  • Support VelocityEHS data entry and reporting; track open corrective actions and overdue items.
  • Assist with routine inspections of eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, PPE, and safety signage.
  • Support vendor and contractor orientation processes.
  • Coordinate and execute The RITEway campaigns, recognition events, communications, and awareness programs.
  • Exercise stop-work authority for imminent danger conditions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA and DHEC requirements relevant to training and recordkeeping.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures, safety and health guidelines, and cGMP Guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience required; bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 3 to 7 years of safety experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, pharmaceutical, or industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training to hourly employees, including off-shift audiences.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA workplace safety and DHEC environmental standards.
  • Qualified, or able to qualify, as a powered industrial truck evaluator under 29 CFR 1910.178(l).
  • Strong communication skills and credible floor presence.
  • Strong organization and recordkeeping skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
