About the role - Explosives Warehouse Operator (Salcha, AK)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for an Explosives Warehouse Operator within our Orica USA Commercial team.
The Explosives Warehouse Operator is responsible for supporting and operating manufacturing facilities with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance. This role will manage the storage area and movement of explosives, including dispatching and receiving finished products, detonators, tubing, and raw materials. All activities must adhere to the National Code for the Transport of Explosives by Road and Rail, as well as Orica's established Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards, to ensure the highest level of operational integrity.
Work schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Shift starts at 7:00 AM
  • Work approximately 10 hours per day

What you will be doing
  • Ensures that the distribution safety schedule is met and adequate feedback is provided to distribution operators
  • Manages machinery and equipment breakdowns to minimize business interruption
  • Ensures communication of post goods issue progress
  • Liaises with site distribution to ensure documentation flows in a timely manner to meet scheduled requirements
  • Manages explosives limits within the ATF regulations
  • Ensures accuracy of operation of the explosives inventory
  • Ensures cost effective and timely delivery of product
  • Establish cost effective working relationships with distribution contractors
  • Delivers agreed level of service
  • Ensure explosives and inventories are compliant with regulatory requirements

What you will bring
  • Operating equipment and front-end loader experience is a plus
  • Tractor-trailer driving experience is a plus
  • Mechanical experience, working with hand tools, is a plus
  • All the above are a plus, but not required, as we offer on the job training
  • Willingness to be trained
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team environment

Physical requirements
  • The work environment involves being outside in all types of weather
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds / carrying 50 pounds or more of product or other materials
  • Pushing, pulling, bending, and squatting while using equipment

Your qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP experience is a plus

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay Range: $23.22 - $29.00
