Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:CONCRETE/EXCAVATION LABORERNon-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Safely and expertly pours, levels and smooths concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, and curbs. May be required to design and build the forms that hold the concrete in place and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (will include but not limited to):

  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
  • Sets forms that hold the concrete in place.
  • Cleans and inspects surfaces for pouring issues.
  • Directs the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
  • Monitors the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applies sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operates power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
  • Polishes surfaces using a power surfacing machine.
  • Follows all direction from Libs Paving Management team as well as Superintendent and Foreman.
  • When driving company vehicles follows proper daily checklist and inspection procedures while completing documentation of same as required.
  • Takes necessary precautions to ensure job is being done in the safest manner possible. Is mindful of their personal safety as well as safety of Team Members and customers.
  • Effectively communicates with other team members with the ability to listen as well.
  • Ensures site safety by installing barricades, as necessary.
  • Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program including wearing Libs Paving Hivisibility work wear.
  • Responsible for keeping truck interiors clean of debris while traveling to and from job sites.
  • Maintains an important level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Must pass drug test and keep COATS card valid.
  • Must be dependable with good to excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason preferred.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 75lbs.
  • Must be able to withstand various climate conditions including extreme heat and humidity.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to kneel for extended periods.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
