JOB TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION MATH TEACHER - Anticipated Opening
JOB SUMMARY: The Math Teacher will provide direct individual and group instruction to eligible special education students in one or more schools. The Math Teacher will work directly with general education teachers to ensure that special education student's Individualized Education Plans are implemented and that accommodations and modifications are in place so that special education students can access the general education curriculum in the general education setting. The resource room teacher will participate in Student Support Team meetings as required.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EX (Mathematics) or EQ (Mathematics Middle Grades & High School) endorsement required.
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in at least one area of special education.
Experience in working with students in groups and individually.
Ability to clearly communicate assessment results and IEPs, in written and oral form, to parents and professionals.
Ability to cooperatively participate in MTSS Teams, evaluations, and IEPs.
Ability to complete and maintain required records, forms, and reports in a professional and timely manner.
Ability to be flexible, to work independently and to contribute as a member of a team.
Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility.
Ability to teach students the use of classroom technology.
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate behavior plans for use in general and special education settings.
Ability and desire to become an active member of a school staff through participation in committees and activities.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):
Provide direct remediation to eligible students in small groups or individually.
Consult with and provide support to classroom teachers to ensure implementation of the IEP, accommodations, modifications and supports in the general education setting.
Create and maintain a schedule.
Participate in Student Support Team meetings as required.
Schedule and facilitate IEPs.
Participate in trainings related to special education forms, guidelines etc.
Adhere to federal, state and WCRESA special education rules and guidelines as applicable.
Develop and implement behavior plans for students.
Work effectively with students in all areas of eligibility.
Provide formal and/or informal assessment of a student's academic status and learning needs.
Be able to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the supports provided by the special education department.
