Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Provides direction and development of support staff and team members, resulting in strong self-managed teams. 
  • Interviews, hires, and ensures proper training of new team members. 
  • Assists with employee timesheets.  
  • Supervises day to day cleanliness, and sanitation of public areas in Horseshoe Casino to feel welcome, safe, and provide a positive experience for all guests, employees and vendors.  
  • Perform routine inspections of all public areas. 
  • Assist Public Area/EVS Attendant with deep cleaning and other projects.  
  • Schedule employees to ensure excellent guest services are maintained in conjunction with efficiency and business needs. 
  • Issues assignments to Public Area/EVS Attendants reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the operations.  
  • Ensures property cleanliness in the casino and restroom areas. 
  • Delegates and holds team members accountable for success. 
  • Creates a safe, healthy, productive, and fun work environment, where team members willingly strive to do their best. 
  • Understands the budget process and inventory supply and control. 

Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies. 

These include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Monitors casino floor, stairs, mirrors, glass and assigned areas to ensure quality and cleanliness. 
  • Maintain appearance of gaming area including dust and polish/disinfect slot machines and seats, cleaning trash from between, behind, and on the floor around slot machines. 
  • Completely clean entire casino floor area, vacuuming, cleaning carpets and carpeted areas, ledges, edges, glass.  
  • Clean gaming tables as/when requested. 
  • Dusting and cleaning of all casino signage. 
  • Services assigned areas daily, including vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and disinfecting of rest rooms, ash/trash receptacles, elevators, dusting, polishing, and sweeping. 
  • Mop, sweep, and clean restrooms to include sink and mirrors - wall, toilet, vents, dispensers, etc. 
  • Cleans, sweeps, mops and empties trash in offices, lobbies, bar areas, corridors, elevators, locker rooms and other work areas as directed by the manager.  
  • Monitors bathrooms to ensure that they are always clean and orderly. 
  • Maintains all equipment supplies and supply rooms in an orderly manner, as instructed by Manager. 
  • Removes all trash and recycling from all receptacles and disposes at their designated locations. Operates trash and cardboard compactor following the Standard Operations Guidelines (SOG). 
  • Supervises the oversight of the departmental duties: dusting, vacuuming, trash disposal, restroom cleaning; cleaning of windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and carpet cleaning to include the cleaning of slot machines and other furnishings. 
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and order departmental cleaning supplies as required.  
  • Assigns Public Area (EVS) staff daily cleaning duties as required. 
  • Prepares and maintains files, records, reports, and related documents in support of Public Area (EVS) activities, as assigned. 
  • Enforces Public Area (EVS) standard operational procedures. 
  • Meet and coordinate with prior shift Supervisor prior to each assigned shift.  
  • Must attend and complete ask required departmental training to include but not limited to; bio clean up, carpet cleaning/shampooing/extracting, and chemical safety.  
  • Is responsible for turning in any kind of lost and found into Security.  
  • Will delegate to ensure the completion of any project issued to them by manager. 
  • Is responsible for always providing proper customer service by assisting out external/internal guests when they have questions or requests.  
  • Ensures that all keys are issued, signed out, and returned by the end of shift.  
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Public Area/EVS personnel are completing all mandatory and required computer-based training.  
  • Assists in orienting and training of all new Public Area/EVS Attendants, Leads, and Supervisors. Making sure that all new employees deal with Horseshoe Casino guests in a friendly and courteous manner and adheres to the Public Area/EVS standards.  
  • Attendance is an essential part responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the attendance policy.
  • Reports maintenance needs following Horseshoe Casino and Caesars Entertainment's protocol.  
  • Reports emergency repairs to proper required departments immediately. 
  • Completes special assignments assigned by Manager - Public Areas and above as requested. 
  • Maintain break room and executive office facilities. 
  • Participates in departmental safety and technical training programs. 
  • Other tasks as assigned. 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:  

  • Must be able to maneuver in and around casino and public areas. 
  • Must be able to perform the physical duties of line employees in emergencies. 
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts. 
  • Must be able to speak distinctly and persuasively to others. 
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues. 
  • Must be able to create written and financial reports. 
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke. 
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time (4 hours). 
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts. 
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel. 
  • Respond to visual and aural cues. 
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. 
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights. 
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. 
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives. 
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed, with a minimum of one year supervisory, housekeeping, or environmental services operations experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, team building, and problem-solving skills are required. Computer experience is desired. 
  • Must have a good understanding and working knowledge of chemical and cleaning supplies and technique/equipment, including MSDS, OSHA, etc.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. 
  • Bilingual skills in the Spanish language helpful. 
  • Must be able to get along with coworkers and work as a team. 
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance. 
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business. 
  • Ability to use PC with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint experience is a must.  
  • Knowledgeable with UKG.  
  • Must be able to obtain a required Maryland Lottery License
