SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

EVS is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex utility-scale solar and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in technical leadership, enjoys mentoring teams, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, constructible designs.
You'll play a critical role in driving civil design strategy, ensuring quality and compliance, and partnering with clients and internal teams to successfully execute projects from concept through construction.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead civil design efforts for complex utility-scale projects, including grading, stormwater management, and site layout with minimal oversight.
  • Anticipate and resolve technical challenges, coordinating closely with project managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee the development of engineering reports such as SWPPP, Stormwater Reports, and Basis of Design (BOD) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage interdisciplinary coordination to incorporate client feedback and evolving project requirements.
  • Provide construction-phase support by responding to RFIs, submittals, and technical inquiries.
  • Serve as a technical reviewer for drawings, calculations, and design packages, ensuring alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform quality control reviews for both personal and team deliverables, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of QA/QC processes, standards, and workflows.
  • Stay current with civil engineering codes, stormwater regulations, and emerging design technologies.
  • Act as a primary technical representative in client meetings, providing clear and confident communication.
  • Draft and respond to technical questions, RFIs, and client comments with professionalism and clarity.
  • Partner with project managers to align design execution with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, providing guidance on design techniques, tools, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and manage team priorities to support efficient project delivery.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in civil engineering, site design, and stormwater management.
  • Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, drainage, and site layout design.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles such as stormwater management, earthwork balancing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with HydroCAD for hydrology and stormwater basin design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for QA/QC processes, markups, and redlining.
  • Familiarity with QGIS for mapping and stormwater analysis is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience preparing engineering reports and documentation.
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring junior staff and guiding team performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical and innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to clients and teams.
