What is an EVP?

Executive Vice Presidents (EVPs) are high-ranking executives in an organization who typically report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or President. They are responsible for overseeing major divisions or functions within the company and play a critical role in shaping the organization's strategic direction. EVPs often manage several departments, set operational goals, and ensure that business objectives are met. Their duties can vary depending on the size and structure of the company, but they are generally involved in executive decision-making and leadership.

What are some common challenges faced by an EVP when aligning cross-departmental strategies?

One of the main challenges for an EVP is ensuring that various departments, each with their own goals and cultures, are working toward the organization's overall strategy. This often involves navigating conflicting priorities, facilitating effective communication between leaders, and resolving resource allocation disputes. Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to build consensus among diverse teams. Regular meetings, transparent decision-making, and fostering a culture of collaboration can help overcome these challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EVP, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Vice President, you need extensive leadership experience, strategic business acumen, and a proven track record in managing large teams or divisions, often supported by an advanced degree such as an MBA. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, financial analysis tools, and executive-level reporting is typically required. Exceptional communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills set top EVPs apart. These competencies are crucial for driving organizational growth, aligning teams with corporate goals, and ensuring effective execution of company strategies.

🏗️ OWNERS SIDE EXECUTIVE SEARCH — MIAMI

Vice President / Project Executive — Owners Side - Design & Construction

One of the most significant projects in South Florida history. A once-in-a-career seat.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

I'm working directly with a premier Miami developer on a confidential VP / Project Executive search for a role most construction executives wait an entire career for.

This person will play a key leadership role on a 1 million+ SF, 50+ story supertall headquarters tower rising on the Brickell waterfront — a $1B+ development designed by one of the world's most acclaimed architecture firms for one of the most prominent names in global finance. When complete, it will stand among the tallest buildings on the East Coast outside of New York City and become the defining statement of Miami's arrival as a global financial capital.

You'll work closely with the EVP of Design & Construction, helping lead one of the most complex, high-profile builds in the country. This is not a project you work on. It's a project you're remembered for.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Serve as a senior leader on the project's design and construction executive team, driving execution from preconstruction through delivery
  • Partner directly with the EVP of Design & Construction on strategy, sequencing, and major project decisions
  • Oversee the GC, design team, consultants, and key trade partners on a supertall, waterfront, logistically demanding urban site
  • Drive budget, schedule, risk, and quality across a $1B+ program
  • Manage stakeholder coordination at the highest level — ownership, a world-renowned design team, and one of the most sophisticated clients in the world
  • Build and lead project teams capable of delivering at this scale

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 15+ years of high-rise construction or development leadership — PX, VP, or SVP level
  • Large-scale, complex urban project experience — supertall, luxury high-rise, Class A office, or major mixed-use ($300M+ single-project experience strongly preferred)
  • Developer or top-tier GC background
  • Command of preconstruction, procurement, scheduling, and cost management at the program level
  • Executive presence — you can hold the room with ownership, world-class architects, and a demanding, sophisticated client
  • South Florida market experience a plus, but not required — this search is national

WHY THIS ROLE

🏙️ A skyline-defining supertall — 1,000+ feet on the Brickell waterfront, designed by a world-famous architecture firm

💼 A once-in-a-generation client — the global headquarters for one of the world's most prominent financial firms

🤝 A true executive seat — working directly with the EVP of Design & Construction

📈 Career-defining — a project every construction executive in America will know by name
