Silver Maples was founded in 1997 with a goal of addressing the needs of active seniors by developing a community which fosters its residents' independence, security, wellness, dignity, privacy, comfort and well-being. There are 17 Independent Living Villas, 77 Independent Living Apartments and 58 Assisted Living Apartments nestled in serene woods on over 17 acres just minutes away from Chelsea's downtown area, fifteen minutes from Ann Arbor and a short drive from Chelsea. Throughout its 20 +year history, the hallmark of Silver Maples has been its sense of community and family, fostered by positive, compassionate leadership, embraced by staff and residents alike




This position is a part-time role with the schedule being: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 3p-11:30p every other weekend


Our Resident Care Associates assist and provide direction to residents with personal care needs which enables the resident to maintain good personal hygiene, to carry out activities of daily living, to maintain good health and to participate in the activities of the community while always emphasizing the residents independence, safety, dignity, privacy, and respect. Actively execute both the Silver Maples & Departmental Mission Statements.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL DEMANDS:

  • Assist the residents in their personal care, which includes direction and assistance in grooming, hygiene, oral care, dressing, nutrition, etc. following the resident plan of care.ย 
  • Assist with transport such as wheel chair to meals or ambulating with walker as needed for safety
  • Provide timely and accurate medication assistance under the direction of the Director of Assisted Living.ย 
  • Identify problems and assist in their resolution as related to safety, sanitation, and maintenance of the environment.
  • Effectively communicate with Administration, Supervisors, fellow employees and residents.ย 
  • Must be able to work closely with residents and their families during difficult times, including illness; aging in place; and comfort care at the end stage of life.
  • Must be able to offer resident and family support in the event of death.

This position is a part-time role with the schedule being: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 3p-11:30p every other weekend

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to operate motion equipment such as wheelchairs, hoyer lift.
  • Must be able to tolerate working with skin irritants and chemicals.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English, and possess good communication skills.
  • Must be willing to obtain a high school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One- year nurse's aide experience preferred.
  • Willingness to take additional geriatric related training.
