Job description

Position: Seasonal Laborer I (three positions)

About the Department of Conservation and Recreation:
The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. DCR is a dynamic agency, and is one of the largest park systems in the nation. The DCR system includes over 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, trails and parkways.
 

The DCR Special Events Division is looking for three seasonal staff to run our Free Family Flicks Series and some concerts and events at other locations. This program is in different parks from Tuesday through Saturday evenings from June 14, 2026 through September 7, 2026. The hours would be from 4pm - 12am. Prior to Film Series start in July the position in June will be a 9am-5pm, 40-hour position that would support various special events from June until the flicks series starts in July.


Duties:

Arrive at  Special  Events warehouse in Dorchester to pick up the truck and equipment and head to that evenings location.

Set up and oversee audio and projection equipment at different parks and take down equipment at end of event and return it to special events storage facility in Dorchester.

Support set up and break down at other special events.

May be expected to use a variety of hand tools.
May operate motor vehicles and light trucks including loading and unloading of supplies, equipment, etc.
Greet and assist park visitors and provide information about the Program.
Must possess a current and valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to work in a team setting.

Ability to exercise sound judgment.

Working Conditions: 

Seasonal Laborers may be required to work outdoors in all types of weather; work varied shifts and/or irregular hours. The above describes the primary job functions and is not to be considered a detailed description of each job duty of the position.
