POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the Program Leadership Team, the Program Manager plays a key role in creating the joy that camp can bring. With a large focus on building up a community of inclusion and setting up a culture where every camper or guest feels safe to step outside of their comfort zone, the Program Manager position helps manage the camp activities & seasonal program staff. Ensuring safety and ultra-accessibility will be of the utmost importance in this position. In addition, the Program Leadership team is the group that serves as the main point of contact for our user groups, campers, and guests. One main aspect of this position is to work as the official planner and liaison between user groups and Morgan's Wonderland Camp. The success of this role relies heavily on a strong love of problem-solving and the ability to provide amazing customer service.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Partner, Camper and Guest Experience

  • Provide an excellent experience for campers, groups, guests, and volunteers. 
  • Collaborate and develop camp schedules for each assigned user group, camp session or event. 
  • Prep, setup, host and clean up as part of your assigned camp sessions. 
  • Provide operational and logistical support to assigned camp user groups during their entire stay at camp. 
  • Utilize our registration system to collect information and communicate with user groups, campers, and guests.
  • Responsible for sharing critical information about assign user groups, camp sessions, events and guests with the whole camp team (including, Maintenance, Housekeeping, volunteers, Admin, Morgan's Wonderland Inclusion Foundation, the San Antonio Food Bank, and the Edwards Aquifer Authority.)

Activity and Program Management

  • Plan, organize and develop curriculum and programming for assigned activity areas.
  • Oversee the day to day operation of assigned activity areas. 
  • Develop, monitor and implement annual budgets for assigned activity areas, ensuring consistent stewardship throughout the year.
  • Maintain Program equipment and facilities to be kept clean and in good repair. 
  • Generate, document and maintain activity procedure manuals.
  • Create a seasonal staff training program for each assigned activity.
  • Retain and update activity related records and reports.
  • Maintain appropriate certification or education level for assigned activities. 
  • Ensure that assigned activity areas meet current ACA standards, Local and State Law, and the Morgan's Wonderland code of standard practice. 
  • Actively support and promote a safe environment and ensure that proper safety precautions are being followed. 
  • Evaluate camp programming on a regular basis, using metrics, data and anecdotal information, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Works with Program Leadership Team to create general programming experiences that leave lifelong impacts and memories. 
  • Ensure all activities are barrier-free for campers, groups & guests, and lend themselves to the motto of inclusion. 
  • Increase and implement strategies to improve activity & camp efficiencies. 
  • Research and investigate new activity & implementation ideas.

Program Team and Staff Leadership

  • As part of the Program Leadership Team, direct supervision of the seasonal program staff.
  • Coach, instruct and/or consult other staff.
  • Organize, assign and schedule seasonal staff during lead sessions. 
  • Communicates and delegates effectively to staff. 
  • Contribute, facilitate and participate in seasonal staff trainings.
  • In coordination with the Program Director, responsible for seasonal staff feedback and will conduct regular evaluations and reviews of seasonal staff. 
  • Aid with seasonal staff recruiting, interview and selections. 
  • Cultivate staff morale by monitoring team dynamics and individual needs. 
  • Help create and model the Morgan's Wonderland Camp Culture.
  • Assist and plan staff retention initiatives.
  • Meets regularly with the Program Director and Program Leadership team. 

General

  • Participates in on-going professional development and maintains an understanding of current best-practices. 
  • Provide support to other departments as needed. 
  • Attend and participate in employee trainings and meetings
  • Mitigate risk whenever possible and make safety recommendations to all departments. 
  • Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • This position requires a minimum of 2 years of camp operations experience with at least some experience in a Managerial capacity. 
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Morgan's Wonderland as well as the implementation of these values in all daily work activity is a necessity in this leadership role. 
  • Must possess high levels of self-motivation and leadership abilities. 
  • Program Manager shall demonstrate leadership in the areas of volunteer and staff development, budget and fiscal management, financial development, community development, and strategic planning. 
  • The ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations is essential. 
  • The Program Manager must be able to capture detail and meet deadlines.
  • The job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work as part of a team; maintain a positive attitude even under stress.
  • Program Manager must have very good oral and written communication skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. 
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule with the ability to work extended hours.
  • A Texas driver's license is required as well as the capacity to drive to various locations.

Physical Requirements -

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body for long periods of time.
  • Much physical effort required on a routine basis: the ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required. Will be occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Frequent and at times a high level of walking is required.
  • Capable of viewing a computer monitor for long periods.

Environmental Demands -

  • The work environment is an outdoor camp environment with continuous outdoor activity and exposure to weather.
  • The ability to move quickly across campus on uneven terrain.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced office and outdoor environment that requires attending meetings at different off-site locations
