The opportunity

The Ceremonies & Events team at Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Manchester campus-based graduate student for the role of Ceremonies & Events Operations Assistant. In this role, students will gain valuable hands-on event operations experience in a fast-paced environment, supporting a range of campus and community events, including Commencement. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and curious with strong organizational skills. This position provides students a unique professional development opportunity, while bringing joy to the SNHU community through vibrant, engaging events. This is a hybrid position that combines daily remote work with regular in-person responsibilities. In-person attendance is required for weekly team meetings, event preparation, and more than 30 university events throughout the year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day Ceremonies & Events team operations including student communications, event logistics and support, project management and special recognition processes
  • Respond to student email inquiries related to attending their Commencement ceremony with empathy and professionalism
  • Assist with preparation of planning documents, organizing event materials at campus Operations Center and providing excellent customer service for university events and ceremonies
  • Develop proficiency in professional software and university systems such as SharePoint, Unify, Wrike and Power BI
  • Coordinate the VIP experience for large-scale events, including guest ticketing, parking, special accommodations, and welcome/check-in process

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a campus-based graduate program at SNHU
  • Attention to detail and high level of reliability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ease in relating to students from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in customer service, student leadership, event planning, project coordination or other related roles preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint) and other technology
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift at least 25 pounds and work evenings or weekends as needed for university events

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
