Job description

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates. USMA is renowned as the preeminent leader development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is seeking a full-time Alumni Events Manager. This position reports directly to the Director of Alumni Events and Operations.

The Alumni Events Manager is responsible for coordinating multi-day class reunions and other alumni events throughout the year. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of event planning and logistics to include communication with the client as outlined in the Memorandum of Agreement. Executes event phase timeline to include updating, maintaining, and reporting on deadlines. Creates and maintains event registration sites, reports, and other event documents needed to support the function of the event. Maintains close, positive working relationships with graduates, other constituents, and vendors. In addition to working in the office, the incumbent will be required to work off-site both after hours and on weekends as needed.

A bachelor?s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. 3-5 years of experience in the event industry. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. High level of analytical ability to handle complex problems. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with other and numerous external agencies. Must be proficient in computer applications ? Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Blackbaud?s CRM, BBIS software, Cvent, and basic HTML is desired. Must be available for occasional travel and work after normal business hours. Excellent customer service and communication skills plus the ability to organize multiple, detail-oriented priorities, and work in a fast-paced team environment is a must. The ability to take initiative in identifying more effective methods of work operation are essential. The incumbent must also be detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and possess a bright and positive attitude. Excellent writing, organization, and time management skills are necessary.
