We are hiring a Catering Sales & Events Manager!
OUR STORY
At the Dorian, Autograph Collection and Courtyard by Marriott Calgary Downtown our associates ensure that every guest experience is a masterpiece, blending impeccable service with whimsical intrigue. Our associates are focused on providing our guests with the best stay possible, to help them pursue their passions through travel.
Together we have two unique experiences, with one address, and one team of hospitality professionals dedicated to being the best in everything we do.
OUR ROLE
We are in search of a professional, detail-oriented, service-focused Catering Sales & Events Manager, responsible for developing and fostering Group and Catering business for the hotel through proactive and reactive sales efforts. This position is designed to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction to external clients and internal partners with the goal of garnering both repeat and referral business from client base. In addition to maintaining existing business, this position will be responsible for finding new business and saturating existing accounts and/or segments.
This position serves as liaison between the customer, the Sales team and the Event Management team.
Key accountabilities include:
Respond in a quick, timely, and professional manner to all internal partners and external customers and deliver clear and concise communique that is representative of Concord Hospitality via all avenues of communication.
Demonstrate excellent time management, self-motivation and proactive planning, and endeavor to be organizationally savvy with a keen focus on detail.
Satisfactorily maintain existing assigned accounts/segments and work diligently to develop new business for hotel.
Effectively and efficiently monitor and manage all aspects of the pre-event, event, and post-event details: Track, detail, and communicate the particulars of each assigned event and group -- including but not limited to -- room blocks, meeting space, special concessions, group history and other reports, cut-off and other key dates, contract clauses, group resumes, event orders and BEO's, billing details, and other integral aspects of groups and events.
Be willing and able to attend customer functions as needed.
Work with internal and external partners to accurately forecast group rooms and F & B revenues, as well as understand the conditions and strategies that will maximize released space and rooms and impact hotel revenues.
Gain knowledge of hotel's food and beverage products, pricing and presentation, and learn about the hotel's function space, audio visual, and any other details related to event success.
Consistently attain sales activity goals and individual revenue goals including -- but not limited to -- proactive and reactive calls, tours and appointments required for this position, as outlined by Concord, your RVPSM, and your supervisor.
Learn and use digital sales systems and conceptual sales processes (i.e. Delphi, CI/TY, PMS, sales call process, etc.) and understand the hotel's sales strategies (i.e. Marketing Plan, rates, budgeted goals, etc.). Implement these tools and resources in order to accomplish individual and team goals and efficiently complete job duties.
Endeavor to work in a unified and collaborative way -- one that fosters teamwork and adopts an entrepreneurial spirit that enables one to make the best possible decisions for hotel and achieve the team's overall goals.
Work to consistently meet the goals and performance metrics required for this position, as outlined by hotel brand, Concord, your Regional VPS, and your supervisor.
YOUR STORY
Previous experience in catering sales, event sales, hotel sales, or luxury hospitality management, preferably within an upscale or luxury hotel environment.
A Hospitality, Tourism or Events program graduate or degree holder.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and successfully managing corporate, social, wedding, and group catering events.
Strong knowledge of luxury hospitality standards, banquet operations, catering services, and event execution.
Exceptional sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with a strong focus on client satisfaction and revenue generation.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently conduct client meetings, site tours, and event presentations.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple accounts, proposals, contracts, and event timelines simultaneously.
Experience preparing catering contracts, banquet event orders (BEOs), event resumes, and revenue forecasts.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate client needs while delivering personalized service experiences.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using hotel sales and catering systems such as Delphi, Opera, CI/TY, or similar platforms preferred.
Ability to collaborate effectively with culinary, banquet, conference services, and operations teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting revenue, and maximizing profitability.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.
The flexibility to work varying schedules as required by the needs of the business and timing of events, which could include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physically able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
