Job description

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, provides accounting support specific to event security invoice processing, expense allocation, weekly payroll submission, reporting and monthly expense report processing. This position also performs a variety of confidential security functions including intelligence and investigative research. This position handles highly sensitive and confidential information.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Processes invoices for all OEI venues including collection, review, acquiring necessary approvals, coding and recording. Submits invoices to Accounting for payment processing.
  • Coordinates and processes monthly expense reports.
  • Submits weekly payroll for event-based Crowd managers working at all OEI venues.
  • Creates, implements, and maintains invoicing system utilized for the Venue Security budget.
  • Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining Venue Security databases, and performing basic bookkeeping work.
  • Provides all necessary support to the Director of Event Security in completing daily functions as needed such as composing correspondence, communications, proposals, presentations, memos, spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Establish and maintain effective, cooperative and professional business relationships with all levels of management, and colleagues. Interacts with customers, makes periodic follow-up telephone calls and maintains databases on all open investigative cases.
  • Files and retrieves documents and reference materials for the Venue Security department.
  • Conduct research, assemble and analyze intelligence and investigative data to prepare reports and documents for LCA and District Detroit entities. Assists in the background verification and checks of criminal histories of potential and current colleagues as well as investigative research requested by the LCA Director of Venue Security.
  • Communicates with other departments and outside contacts in a professional and courteous manner on project-based assignments.
  • Arranges and coordinates meetings and security-based events for the Venue Security Department and all District Detroit entities.
  • Attends bi-weekly Event Security meetings and distributes minutes of meetings to attendees.
  • Maintains and updates event calendars for Venue Security and outside sources such as Detroit Police Department (DPD), Tactical Operations, etc.
  • Assists and plans events and programs as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio and ability to navigate windows-based security software for CCTV and access control.
  • General accounting and Public Safety and Security knowledge regarding equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to support effective local, state and/or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property or institutions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Possible notary services.

Working Conditions:
  • Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
  • This position may involve travel.
