Creating exceptional guest experiences starts with helping guests and team members feel safe, welcomed, and supported at all times. As a Security Officer, you'll help protect guests, employees, visitors, and hotel property while delivering professional, service-focused hospitality throughout the hotel.

What you'll be doing
What you'll be doing
  • Patrol hotel property, public areas, entrances, parking areas, and operational spaces to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests and team members.

  • Monitor hotel activity, guest interactions, operational areas, and security systems to identify and respond to safety or security concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Respond to guest concerns, emergencies, alarms, disturbances, accidents, and operational incidents according to hotel procedures and safety standards.

  • Assist guests, visitors, and team members with directions, property access, safety concerns, and general hospitality support as needed.

  • Monitor surveillance systems, access control systems, radios, and operational security equipment throughout shifts.

  • Maintain accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, operational updates, and security documentation according to hotel procedures.

  • Support emergency response procedures including evacuations, medical incidents, fire alarms, weather events, and operational disruptions as required.

  • Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and hotel leadership teams to support seamless hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

  • Support VIP arrivals, conferences, weddings, group business, and special events as needed.

  • Follow hotel operational procedures, OSHA regulations, fire safety standards, and company security policies at all times.

  • Help foster a safe, welcoming, professional, and guest-focused atmosphere aligned with Sonesta's People People philosophy.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

What great looks like
  • Previous security, hospitality, hotel operations, law enforcement, military, emergency response, or guest service experience preferred.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a calm and professional presence.

  • Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions during emergency or high-pressure situations.

  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, operational awareness, and guest satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response protocols, surveillance systems, and hotel safety practices preferred.

  • Positive attitude with a dependable, service-focused, and team-oriented mindset.

  • CPR, First Aid, AED, security certifications, or law enforcement training preferred where applicable.

  • Flexible availability including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and operational coverage as needed.

  • A passion for hospitality, teamwork, professionalism, guest engagement, and creating safe and welcoming guest experiences.
