Description
Summary:
At Casper College, the Event Setup Assistant is also known as the Campus Services I. This position performs general functions related to moving and setting up furniture, equipment, and supplies for campus events, and performs these in compliance with all Casper College and Physical Plant policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
The Campus Services I position is responsible for performing various services throughout the campus community with all departments under the direction of the Campus Service Crew Leader. The Campus Services I position is responsible for are campus-wide work order requests for various services including moving, event setup and takedown, various maintenance tasks, and other related tasks as directed by the Campus Services Crew Leader. Tasks include both on campus and off campus pick up and/or delivery of supplies and equipment.
Essential Duties
  • Implement work orders directing the delivery and set up of furniture, office supplies, and equipment.
  • Interact with campus community members regarding the movement of furniture, equipment and supplies.
  • Perform setup for events, activities, and any campus occasion requiring set up or movement of materials used for the particular occasion. Provide support and services for events, programs, official functions, and activities. Install temporary campus traffic control signage for events.
  • Maintain storage areas.
  • Pick up and transfer materials for recycling.
  • Provide snow removal of assigned sidewalks and handicap zones.
  • Operate forklift, truck liftgate, box truck and other related equipment.
  • Perform painting of sports fields, traffic painting of stop bars, parking lots, street crosswalks, handicap zones, etc.
  • Assist with the GovDeals surplus program.
  • Cross-train and provide coverage for the Shipping and Receiving and the Grounds Maintenance departments.
  • Carry and respond to College provided cell phone; carry and utilize a two-way radio while working.
  • Report concerns, hazardous conditions, and injuries/ accidents to supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able and willing to perform physical labor for full shift (8 hours), and able and willing to perform physical labor for more than a full shift (over 8 hours)
  • Ability to follow relevant policies, procedures, instructions and safety standards; work safely with equipment, vehicles, and machinery
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and practices
  • Experience with office equipment such as computer, printer, scanners, fax machine, and photocopier and computer software including word processing, database, email, and other related software applications
  • Ability to maintain a professional, effective, and collegial working relationship with co-workers, the public and all campus constituent groups communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize assigned work
  • Valid motor vehicle license at the time of hire and must obtain a Wyoming driver's license within 30 days of hire. Must maintain insurability under the College's insurance plan.

  • Prior work experience directly related to position (commercial moving, construction, etc)

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and uses a vehicle and occasionally works evenings and on weekends. While performing the main duties of this position, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors delivering mail and freight throughout campus and works near, and with computers and computer monitors. While performing other duties as assigned (i.e. with the Campus Services and Ground Maintenance departments), the employee will be exposed to moderate to high noise levels requiring hearing protection and seasonal outdoor conditions from very hot to very cold. May be called back after hours, on weekends, and holidays for emergencies, special assignments, snow removal and/or any other activity which requires the position's presence on campus and/or at the assigned work station. Call back assignments are at the discretion of the Campus Services Crew Leader, or the Assistant Facility Operations Director.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly crouch and routinely lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include those needed to operate College vehicles and equipment, see close up i.e. mail and package addresses and ability to adjust focus both near and far. Employee must be able to operate College equipment and vehicles to transport various materials and equipment.
