Company Overview:


The Javits Center is considered a global convention center, hosting the world's leading conventions, trade shows, and special events on Manhattan's West Side. These large-scale events have generated billions of dollars in annual economic activity for New York City and New York State, supporting thousands of jobs in and around the facility. Located on 11th Avenue between West 34th Street and West 40th Street, the iconic structure has played a prominent role in New York’s recovery and resurgence, and with a state-of-the-art expansion project recently completed, the venue features more than 850,000 square feet of total exhibition space, two new floors of meeting room space, a rooftop pavilion and terrace, as well as a range of catering, sustainability, and technology services.


Position Summary:


The Sustainability Solutions Coordinator will provide operational, analytical, and administrative support to advance sustainability initiatives across the Javits Center. This role will support the planning, coordination, and execution of both internal and external sustainability programs and initiatives while assisting the sustainability team with data collection, performance tracking, stakeholder engagement, and reporting activities. This is an entry-level position ideal for a candidate with 1–3 years of relevant experience who is passionate about sustainability, operations, and collaborative project coordination. The Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with internal departments, vendors, partners, and community stakeholders to help ensure the successful implementation and communication of sustainability initiatives and organizational goals.


The compensation range for this position is $28.21 - $30.77 per hour. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon the candidate’s relevant skills and experience. Interested candidates must be willing to work onsite at the Javits Center.


Essential Functions:


Sustainability Program & Initiative Support –


  • Support the implementation and coordination of sustainability initiatives and projects across the organization.
  • Assist the sustainability team with day-to-day operations, project coordination, and administrative support.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, vendors, partners, and external stakeholders to support sustainability-related initiatives and events.
  • Help monitor progress of sustainability programs and maintain organized project documentation and records.
  • Support planning and execution of sustainability campaigns, events, and employee engagement activities.


Data Collection & Reporting Support –


  • Collect, organize, and maintain sustainability-related operational and performance data.
  • Assist with tracking metrics and compiling information for sustainability reports, presentations, and internal updates.
  • Support data management efforts to help measure progress toward organizational sustainability goals.
  • Prepare summaries, spreadsheets, dashboards, and supporting materials for sustainability initiatives and reporting needs.


Stakeholder & Employee Engagement –


  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives and sustainability awareness activities.
  • Support internal communications and educational efforts related to sustainability programs and events.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, trainings, workshops, volunteer activities, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Serve as a collaborative resource across departments to support sustainability participation and coordination efforts.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Business, Communications, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in sustainability, operations, project coordination, administration, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
