Job description

The Event Production Technician will play a critical role in the design, setup, and support of onsite and hybrid events for an established global technology client. This role is responsible for:
  • using their technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events based on the creative vision and unique event scope;
  • utilizing deep knowledge of video equipment and technology to ensure flawless operation of all video equipment and decision-making skills to make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure quality control; and
  • collaborating with team members to optimize the operational setup of the production control room and oversee the troubleshooting of all aspects of the client's production facilities and control rooms.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Event Production Technician will play a critical role in the design, setup, and support of onsite and hybrid events for an established global technology client. This role is responsible for:
  • using their technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events based on the creative vision and unique event scope;
  • utilizing deep knowledge of video equipment and technology to ensure flawless operation of all video equipment and decision-making skills to make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure quality control; and
  • collaborating with team members to optimize the operational setup of the production control room and oversee the troubleshooting of all aspects of the client's production facilities and control rooms.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical consultation on the production strategy based on the unique event goals, scope, and vision.
  • Oversee the design, setup, and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high- quality event for client productions.
  • Determine the required hardware, equipment, and production assets needed for event and oversee the necessary testing and quality control on all items prior.
  • Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including but not limited to:
  • Technical direction
  • Audio mixing
  • Robotic cameras
  • Virtual platforms
  • Graphics
  • Video playback
  • Streaming
  • Lighting design
  • Teleprompter
  • Execute virtual events on various virtual event platforms such as StreamYard, Wirecast, and VMix.
  • Provide support for staging and creative lighting design.
  • Use expert knowledge of production equipment to ensure optimization of all equipment configurations and setups. Use complex decision making to recommend repair or replacement of equipment.
  • Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around overall strategy for studio and event spaces based on operational requirements.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves:
  • 3+ years of experience in the area of event production, broadcast, video production, or another similar field.
  • 1+ years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
  • Studio production and event experience.
  • Experience with control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.
  • Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
  • A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
  • Track record of being strategic, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations.
  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
  • Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities.
  • Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Experience with Ross production environments and video switchers including Ultrix routers, Carbonite and Ultra switchers.
  • Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
  • Experience with Panasonic PTZ Cameras.
  • Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
  • College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.

Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL VideoLink offices.
    • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
    • Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.
