Position Overview:
Are you an experienced AV Engineer with a collaborative mindset, who thrives in dynamic environments supporting world class AV systems? Are you interested in joining a high performing team with a mission-driven organization that believes in providing safe, comfortable workspaces for their employees?
Freddie Mac is seeking a talented Media Services Engineer to join our team!
Our Impact:
  • Design, Install, Operate and Support integrated AV systems throughout the McLean campus & Regional offices, elevating the quality of executive and corporate gatherings.
  • Enable Freddie Mac leaders and teams to communicate confidently, with all technical details managed discreetly and professionally by our Media Services team.

  • Serve as the day-to-day technical bridge between the AV Operations team and the AV Engineering team, helping ensure operational issues are captured, investigated, resolved, escalated, and documented appropriately.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for AV Operations when room, event, or system issues are reported, providing timely troubleshooting support and clear communication on status and next steps.
  • Support AV Operations during high-profile events, including pre-event system checks, room setup, live technical support, equipment resets, post-event tear down, and follow-up documentation.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of AV systems throughout Freddie Mac spaces, including conference rooms, huddle rooms, configurable rooms, event spaces, and supported collaboration areas.

  • Diagnose AV issues, assist with resolution, and escalate complex or recurring technical matters to the Chief Engineer, Sr. AV Engineers, IT, vendors, or manufacturers as appropriate.
  • Document reported issues, troubleshooting steps, resolution details, root cause findings, service trends, and follow-up actions in the appropriate ticketing or documentation system.
  • Identify frequent issues and patterns across AV systems throughout the campus, then partner with Engineering team to recommend corrective actions, standardization improvements, or long-term reliability enhancements.
  • Prepare rooms for daily use, meetings, and events by testing systems, confirming signal flow, checking microphone and speaker performance, and ensuring displays and conferencing equipment are ready.
  • Assist with equipment replacements, room reconfigurations, firmware updates, installation support, and punch-list resolution for AV maintenance and upgrade projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of service tickets, preventative maintenance activity, repairs, equipment inventory, spare parts, warranties, and system documentation.
  • Coordinate with AV Operations, Corporate Meetings and Events, Facilities, IT, Corporate Security, vendors, and end users to schedule room access, maintenance windows, repairs, and support activities with minimal disruption.
  • Provide professional user support for Freddie Mac room technology, hybrid meetings, presentation systems, control interfaces, and conferencing platforms.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in audio-visual systems, electronics, IT, networking, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing AV systems in corporate, commercial, higher education, hospitality, live event, or similar environments.
  • Experience supporting meetings or events, including setup, testing, live support, tear down, and post-event follow-up.
  • Working knowledge of audio, video, control, networked AV, conferencing, presentation, and room scheduling technologies.
  • Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, signal flow documentation, room layouts, equipment specifications, cable labels, and service documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate issues across hardware, software, cabling, network connectivity, control systems, and user configuration.
  • Ability to document issues clearly, root cause analysis, track recurring problems, and communicate patterns or risks to Engineering leadership.
  • Good communication and customer service skills - written and verbal, with the ability to support Freddie Mac employees, contractors, executives, event teams, AV Operations, Engineering, and vendors professionally and clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize service requests, support urgent meeting-room or event issues, document work accurately, and communicate status to the Chief Engineer, Sr. Engineer, and other stakeholders.
  • Comfortable using ticketing systems, inventory tools, basic hand tools, cable testers, AV diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer support resources.
  • Ability to lift, carry, move, mount, and install AV equipment as required by the role.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in equipment racks, ceilings, conference rooms, event spaces, and other supported corporate areas.
  • May require occasional early morning, evening, weekend, or on-call support for maintenance windows, urgent room issues, executive meetings, business-critical events, or project cutovers.
  • Must comply with Freddie Mac safety, security, badge, access, and workplace procedures at all times.
