Job Description:

The Civil Skilled Labourer supports civil construction operations related to underground utilities, roadworks, and site development. The role involves hands-on work assisting operators, pipelayers, and forepersons to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Canadian safety regulations and municipal standards.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with the installation of underground utilities, including storm, sanitary, and water systems
  • Perform excavation support tasks such as trench preparation, bedding, and backfilling
  • Install and adjust pipe bedding materials and assist with pipe placement
  • Support installation of manholes, catch basins, services, hydrants, and valves
  • Perform hand excavation around existing utilities and services
  • Assist with compaction, grading, and site cleanup
  • Spot and guide heavy equipment and traffic as required
  • Follow utility locates and protect existing underground infrastructure
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
  • Adhere to company policies, site-specific safety plans, and OH&S regulations
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and hazard assessments

What you'll bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in civil construction or underground utilities (preferred)
  • Knowledge of civil construction tools, equipment, and materials
  • Ability to work safely in and around trenches and heavy equipment
  • Familiarity with Canadian trench safety and excavation practices
  • Ability to read basic construction drawings (asset)
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills
  • Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work
