Job Description

The Education and Events Manager oversees the organization, supervision and execution of both public and private events. Event formats include classes carried out at La Scuola di Eataly, Eataly’s cooking school; group reservations in the restaurants; restaurant and store buyouts; promotional press events; producer tastings; and private dinners and receptions for 2-500 people. 

Reports to the Marketing Manager and oversees Education and Events and service staff.  

  • Co-managing La Scuola Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams  
  • Managing correspondence for La Scuola department via email and over the phone including private event requests, class registrations/cancellations and general inquiries;  
  • Supervising events at La Scuola: sets up, oversees, and breaks down cooking classes, wine tasting classes, communal dinners, private dinners and private receptions;  
  • Facilitating communication between the client and chefs, beverage managers, and restaurant team members;  
  • Hiring, developing, and managing Education & Events Associates 
  • Ensuring each individual event is planned correctly and runs smoothly, from front-of-house supervision to behind-the-scenes organization and data entry;  
  • Developing public classes: drafting class descriptions, compiling instructor biographies and creating online class registration pages;  
  • Participates in organizing storewide events, promotions and partner events; and  
  • Performing other duties as required or assigned.  
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or other related field is required  
  • Additional certification in event planning, marketing, or conference planning is required  
  • 2+ years’ experience in the hospitality, restaurant, or events industry is required  
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends 
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for periods up to 8 hours in a high-volume 

Compensation

  • Compensation for this role is CAD $76,794.00 annually
