The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is hiring a Health and Wellbeing Program Director at our Mel Korum Family YMCA location.

As the Health and Well-being Program Director, you will provide leadership and oversight for the Health and Well-being Department, ensuring high-quality programs and meaningful experiences for our members. This role oversees staff, programs, and resources to deliver exceptional programming that positively impacts our community.

We are seeking an individual who has experience with wellness programs that are designed for Active Older Adults (AOA). The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is proud to offer a wide variety of fitness classes, specialized programs, and wellness workshops that are designed to help active older adults stay healthy, connected, and engaged.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to support AOA Programming. Individuals with experience in fitness coaching, personal training, and leading group exercise classes are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $23.70 to $29.91 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Position Summary

The Health and Well-being Program Director develops, coordinates, and provides administrative support for the department at a large branch, as defined by budget size, staff count, and program scope and scale. Supervises department staff and their functions to ensure quality programs. Provides leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants through innovative program development, evaluations, and ongoing training of staff and volunteers. Provides a quality experience to members focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and evaluate programs, activities, and events.

Create and schedule health and well-being classes.

Establish new program activities and expand programs to meet the needs of the community in accordance with Association strategic and operating plans.

Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.

Confidently lead members through health and well-being programs while demonstrating current safety guidelines to assist in improving the four components of fitness; flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning, for all fitness levels.

Assist members with fitness goals through motivation, instruction, and support.

Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.

Track hourly usage to ensure the department has enough staff for safety.

Provide input to help inform and develop marketing materials and support distribution of program information.

Collaborate with the Association Operational Focus Groups and other directors of YMCA PKC branches to ensure consistent association-wide programming.

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Identify and develop small groups and activities.

Manage and implement the approved program budget.

Research and purchase new equipment.

Utilize purchase orders, check requests and expense reports per association policies. Use a system to track and monitor ongoing expenses, purchase orders and inventory.

Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.

Work in collaboration with senior management to review and evaluate staff performance.

Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Support development and implementation of program specific volunteer training program. Assist staff in identifying productive and creative volunteer roles.

Review, approve, and submit staff time cards to payroll department per schedule.

Track volunteer hours and record appropriately.

Schedule shifts and process time off request forms for staff.

Provide all departmental staff with professional development.

Ensure that all mandatory training is scheduled and funded.

Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.

Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.

Develop relationships with internal/external members to secure and support branch financial development success.

Provide training and equip staff with tools to better communicate our cause.

Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.

Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas.

Train and support staff on safety protocols, cleaning and sanitizing.

Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE.

Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.
