Recreation Program Assistant (Sports Site)
Part-time as Needed
Starting Hourly Salary: $15.77

Join Our Team:
We are seeking a dedicated Recreation Program Assistant to join our Parks and Recreation team. This role involves overseeing program facilities and sports activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up fields and facilities for games and practices.

  • Communicate with parents and coaches, distribute updated schedules, and address questions and concerns.

  • Maintain a safe and fun environment for players, spectators, and coaches.

  • Inspect equipment for safety and ensure proper use of facilities.

  • Operate equipment safely and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

  • Report accidents, incidents, and disciplinary actions to the supervisor.

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons and answering questions.

  • Communicate with staff and public safety officials during emergencies.

  • Maintain equipment inventories and request orders as needed.

  • Interact professionally and courteously with supervisors, staff, and the public.

  • Perform general custodial work and maintain organized and clean workspaces.

  • Report public hazards to the immediate supervisor.

  • Attend department meetings as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Available to work weekday evenings and Saturdays.

  • General knowledge of sports and game day events is a plus.

  • Must attend mandatory training sessions.

Special Requirements:

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Valid driver’s license issued by the state.

  • Background and driving record check required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of departmental methods, procedures, and policies.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations.

  • Ability to organize work around broad organizational goals.

  • Effective communication and regular reporting to supervisors.

  • Capable of overseeing complex program development.

  • Ability to implement policies and procedures for successful operations.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort for medium work.

  • Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • Requires a range of physical activities including balancing, climbing, and kneeling.
