Job description

Position: Broadcast Associate

Location: Birmingham, AL (Grants Mill location, Irondale)

Purpose of the Job:

The Broadcast Associate supports the day-to-day operations of the Broadcast Department of Church of the Highlands ("Highlands") by ensuring excellence in broadcast systems, content distribution, volunteer development, documentation, and production execution. This role is responsible for coordinating and developing Broadcast Dream Team members, maintaining operational standards and processes, and supporting the technical execution of services and events. The Broadcast Associate regularly operates and helps oversee AVL production positions, helping deliver high-quality broadcast experiences across weekly services, conferences, retreats, Highlands College, and special events.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Two (2) years' experience in video production or broadcast environment
  • Basic understanding of audio, video, and lighting systems, equipment, and concepts
  • Intermediate Mac and PC proficiency
  • Familiarity with ProPresenter, video routers, video switchers, and various projector control interfaces is preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Relational and team-building skills required

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operation/cleaning of broadcast gear.
  • Oversee services as needed.
  • Point of contact for content checks and delivery.
  • Coordinate Dream Team onboarding and any requirements for serving.
  • Coordinate Dream Team training schedules
  • Coordinate Dream Team ongoing training.
  • Contact for content distribution.
  • Oversee creation of checklists and procedural documents for all broadcast venues, including service checklists, content prep checklists, position-specific flow/note sheets (lyrics, director, etc.), and others as needed.
  • Attend and lead weekly training sessions at Grants Mill as needed.
  • Production editing and archiving recorded services and events.
  • Run lighting positions as needed for services.
  • Assist other Highlands departments with production and/or production equipment support
  • Operate production positions as needed during regular weekly services, retreats, conferences, Highlands College, and special events.
  • Assist with live video directing as needed for services and special events.
  • Production equipment, maintenance and installation at other campuses as needed.
  • Participate in church-wide events.
  • Lead or co-lead a small group.
  • Other duties as assigned.
