How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. A Project Manager III is responsible for managing all aspects of a project from order intake through closeout, with some involvement during the quoting and award phases. This includes ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards while serving as the primary point of contact for the customer. Key responsibilities include scheduling, cost forecasting, progress reporting, managing subcontractors and partners, overseeing change orders and claims, and maintaining project cash flow. The role also requires full ownership of project performance, proactively addressing issues, protecting margins, and ensuring all deliverables, documentation, and final payments are completed at project closeout.

The successful incumbent effectively manages a challenging workload and, as needed, delegates tasks to supporting roles. Success in this role demands outstanding organizational, project planning, project management, and communication skills.

  1. Scheduling, Risk, and Operational Oversight
  • Manage project timelines across engineering, construction, and supply chain functions.
  • Lead project risk assessment, mitigation, and insurance management.
  • Track deliveries and ensure timely, accurate fulfilment of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping and documentation requirements.
  1. Reporting, Documentation, and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain accurate project status reports and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Oversee document control, including management of the Document Control List (DCL).
  • Drive Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Lead lessons learned processes to improve future projects and proposal development.
