At Hyatt, our purpose is to care for people so they can be their best. We are seeking an experienced, service-driven Banquet & Catering Manager who shares our passion for hospitality, leadership, operational excellence, and creating exceptional guest experiences.


Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, motivate, and develop the Banquet team while promoting Hyatt's culture of care and service excellence.

Recruit, train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate banquet colleagues.

Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement.

Conduct performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and ongoing training.

Ensure all colleagues understand Hyatt service standards, banquet procedures, and safety expectations.

Event Operations

Oversee execution of all banquets and catering events, ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

Direct room set-ups including classroom, theater, conference, reception, wedding, and banquet configurations.

Ensure all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are reviewed, communicated, and executed accurately.

Conduct daily BEO meetings with Culinary, Sales & Events, and Operations teams.

Monitor service quality throughout each event and resolve operational issues promptly.

Ensure banquet spaces consistently meet Hyatt presentation and cleanliness standards.

Maintain proper staffing levels based on business demands.


Guest Experience

Delivering exceptional hospitality that reflects Hyatt's commitment to caring for guests.

Actively engage with meeting planners, clients, and guests throughout events.

Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally while creating service recovery opportunities.

Maintain high guest satisfaction scores through proactive leadership and attention to detail.


Administrative & Organizational Excellence

Manage all banquet administrative responsibilities with accuracy and attention to detail.

Review and distribute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), resumes, diagrams, and event changes.

Maintain accurate banquet schedules, staffing plans, payroll, and labor controls.

Coordinate event timelines with Sales, Events, Culinary, Stewarding, and Engineering.

Monitor inventory of banquet equipment, linens, supplies, and operating equipment.

Prepare reports, forecasts, labor schedules, productivity analyses, and operational documentation.

Ensure accurate completion of daily paperwork, payroll approvals, checklists, and departmental records.

Maintain organized event files and ensure proper communication across departments.

Participate in weekly forecasting, departmental meetings, and operational planning sessions.


Financial Management

Working with the Director of Food & Beverage with budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and expense control.

Monitor banquet labor costs and productivity.

Support revenue growth through operational efficiencies and exceptional guest service.

Control banquet inventories and minimize waste.

Assist with purchasing and vendor relationships as needed.


Compliance & Brand Standards

Ensure compliance with Hyatt brand standards and operating procedures.

Maintain all health, sanitation, safety, and food handling standards.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Promote safe work practices and maintain a clean, organized operation.

Support sustainability initiatives and Hyatt operational programs.

Requirements

Minimum three (3) years of hotel banquet leadership experience, preferably in a full-service hotel.

Previous Banquet Manager or Assistant Banquet Manager experience strongly preferred.

Experience managing large-scale meetings, conventions, weddings, and social events.

Demonstrated leadership experience with recruiting, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.

Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working collaboratively with Sales & Events, Culinary, and Operations teams.

Strong financial knowledge including labor management, forecasting, budgeting, and expense control.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Hyatt systems, Envision, Delphi, or similar event management software preferred.

Ability to analyze reports and make sound operational decisions.

Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Flexible schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds.

Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout the hotel.

Ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced operational environment
