Job description

Position Summary

Sand Springs Public Schools Athletics Department is seeking dedicated and customer-service-oriented personnel to serve as Security Specialists for Charles Page High School home football games and other events as needed. Security Specialists play a critical front-line role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and visiting spectators.

Position Title: Security Specialist - Guest Screening & Entrance Operations

Department: Athletics

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $60.00 per event

Work Schedule: Charles Page High School football (9th-12th) games only (typically 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM or less per game)/Other event times will be shared with you by the Athletic Department

Reports To: Athletic Security Supervisor / Event Manager

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, August 24, 2026 12:00 AM (Central Standard Time)

Key Responsibilities
  • Access Control & Screening: Conduct thorough handheld metal detector (wand) screening of all entering spectators in accordance with district standard operating procedures.
  • Bag Inspection: Perform visual bag checks to enforce district clear bag policies and identify prohibited items, weapons, or safety hazards.
  • Guest & Ticket Assistance: Greet incoming spectators, provide clear directions, and assist patrons with entry questions regarding season passes, student passes, and ticket purchasing.
  • Student Pass Verification: Inform students of entry qualifications and admission rules, and verify passes prior to entry.
  • Team Communication: Maintain continuous contact with supervisory personnel and fellow security staff via walkie-talkie/radio to communicate queue flow, issues, or policy questions.
  • Equipment Setup & Take Down: Assist in the physical setup and takedown of security checkpoints, wanding lanes, stanchions, and entrance table stations before and after games.
  • Policy Enforcement & Escalation: Enforce stadium entry guidelines and immediately report suspicious activity, policy non‑compliance, or disruptions to supervisors or law enforcement personnel.
Physical Requirements
  • Continuous Standing & Walking: Ability to stand and walk continuously for up to 4.5 hours per shift without extended seated rest periods.
  • Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform continuous upper-body and arm motions required during wand screening and bag inspections.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-30 lbs. when moving stanchions, tables, and metal detection signage during equipment setup/takedown.
  • Bending & Reaching: Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and kneel as needed during screening duties and entrance setup.
  • Outdoor Environmental Exposure: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, or wind) during evening shifts.
  • Sensory & Visual Demands: Visual acuity to inspect passes and bags, and hearing capability to monitor two-way radios in high-noise stadium environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Availability to work Friday evening home football games at Charles Page High School, starting at 5:30 PM./ speak with the Athletic Department regarding other security events.
  • Ability to comfortably operate a two-way walkie-talkie radio.
  • Strong verbal communication, conflict de-escalation, and customer service skills.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check.
