Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Store Operations & Business Performance
  • Lead daily store operations and execute strategies to achieve sales, profitability, productivity, and customer service goals.
    • Manage store P&L, expenses, labor, inventory, cash control, and operational resources.
    • Analyze sales, inventory, labor, and customer data to identify opportunities and improve business results.
    • Drive sales growth, market share, BOPIS, online orders, and omnichannel engagement.
    • Oversee merchandising, pricing, inventory accuracy, product availability, and store presentation.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Associate Development
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and develop Assistant Store Managers, Department Managers, and associates.
    • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, recognize results, and address performance opportunities.
    • Build a positive, high-performing team and develop talent for succession and career growth.
    • Lead by example and reinforce Rural King's leadership principles and values.

Customer Experience & Community
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through strong service, product knowledge, and sales execution.
    • Build the store's local presence through social media, store events, vendor partnerships, customer training, and community engagement.
    • Monitor customer feedback and trends to improve service and store performance.

Safety, Compliance & Loss Prevention
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and compliant store environment.
    • Lead efforts to reduce shrink, inventory loss, operational risk, and cash discrepancies.
    • Ensure accurate inventory, pricing, cash controls, and asset protection practices.
    • Maintain the building, grounds, equipment, and merchandise to company standards.

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of retail management, store management, general management, or retail leadership experience preferred.
    • Proven ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
    • Experience with retail operations, sales, P&L, merchandising, inventory, customer service, scheduling, and loss prevention.
    • Strong business, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
    • Ability to analyze performance and implement strategies that improve sales and profitability.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, POS systems, retail technology, and inventory management systems.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
    • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and a 50-hour workweek based on business needs.
    • Must meet federal requirements to qualify for a Federal Firearms License (FFL), when applicable.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, handheld devices, and other retail equipment.
    • Ability to navigate all areas of the store, including stairs and outdoor areas.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
    • Close vision required for computer-related activities.
